I ordered a veggie calzone. I was told by our server, Courtney, that it would be cut into three pieces. It was not, but I wish it had been. It may have allowed some of the moisture to escape before it was served to me. The bulk of the green and black olives were concentrated heavily in the middle and one side of the dish. And I guess they didn’t drain them before putting them in the dough because it was so soggy on one side, the “crust” fell apart when I tried to pick it up. The one piece of it I could actually pick up and eat normally was doughy and dense just like the garlic knots. I ordered the “drunk witch” from the fall drink list with the encouragement of our server. It tasted like Act mouthwash. I told Courtney I didn’t like it. She said the regular bartender wasn’t there, so the owner made it. She took the drink and returned a couple minutes later apologizing and saying she didn’t know the owner has “no refunds or exchanges on drinks” policy (though later she told us the owner had “cursed out a old couple because they told him they didn’t like their drinks” and wouldn’t give them new drinks or their money back). It’s worth noting that it’s not written/posted anywhere that I noticed.
My friend ordered wings and a flatbread pizza. The wings were edible, yet almost completely devoid of any flavor. The flatbread pizza arrived so long after the rest of the food, we nearly forgot about it and just took it to go.
Overall, the food was sorely disappointing. I would recommend going elsewhere. We didn’t even want to take our leftovers and there was PLENTY left over. (See photos. Napkin on plate was to soak up liquid. I used a FEW.)
When I brought this to the manager’s attention, she was dismissive and said she saw nothing wrong with the pizza and that the new one would likely look the same — yet she offered to remake it. That comment made no sense, especially because the first pizza clearly proved it could be made correctly. At that point, it felt like she simply didn’t want to assist me or acknowledge the issue.
This particular location has a history of pizzas coming out like this, but since it’s the closest one to me, I always specify no burnt cornmeal. Sadly, it seems oven cleanliness and quality control just aren’t prioritized here.
When I asked for some type of accommodation for the delay and inconvenience — given that waiting would cause the other pizza to become cold and potentially make us late — I was told the only options were a remake or a refund. Her tone remained dry, dismissive, and completely lacking in empathy or customer care. So I requested a full refund and went to Fabiano’s instead, where the service and pizza were significantly better.
Side note: I contacted the VP and he apologized and said a gift card would be mailed to me to use at another location, and that he would address this with the branch manager. I provided photos, video, and the name of the manager I spoke with as he requested. He agreed it was unacceptable and hates to hear that they are losing a customer to a competitor. He also agreed that other accommodations should have been made….burbling story short and months later, the gift card never arrived.
I tried to resolve this privately and professionally and would not have posted a negative review if the promised resolution had been fulfilled. Unfortunately, it never was.
**UPDATE: The response below from Johnny’s is not accurate. The issue was never resolved to my satisfaction. I spoke directly with VP Scott Allen, who confirmed on his cell phone that he received my photos, videos, name, and address — and the message even shows as “read” (have him check his cellphone ending in **44 on 7/28/25 at 5:20pm). I do not wish to provide my information again. The matter was never corrected, and I remain a very unsatisfied customer. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe in being honest — good or bad — and others deserve to know my experience.
The cheese was the best. Meat pizza was decent yet lacked enough cheese.
The chicken with white sauce was awful my wife bit into a piece of gristle. Yes your subject to pieces of bones I get it.
Yet they do not check the bird meat before putting it into the pie?
Would have earned 4 stars if not for the mishap with the white sauce chicken pie.
Management said they’d reach out. I’m still waiting to hear from them.
