I stopped in to check out this place after a lengthy travel. By the time I got there the kitchen was closed. So I ordered a beer. The bartender Stephanie came with my beer and told me they would open the kitchen for me so I could eat since I was hungry. I asked what they were known for. I ordered the fish tacos and a side of fries. I tell you what the fish tacos made with white fish were some of the best I’ve ate. The fries were like the famous Rally’s seasoned fries that everyone likes. Staff and Patrons made me feel right at home. Men’s room is clean and the bar has a few decks overlooking Lake superior. Overall I am glad I chose Pickles Bar-n-Grill. Next time im in the U.P. I’ll be back here again next time i travel from central Nebraska.

We ordered the white fish sandwich and was absolutely dissatisfied. The sandwich was dripping with grease, the lettuce they put on the sandwich was brown and slimy and for the price, it was the smallest piece of fish to be put on a bun and it was seriously over fried.
The fries were cold and there was no coleslaw even though we purchased a platter!
The best part of the experience was the pickle that came with it!
Save your money, the food is not worth it.

Nice little rustic bar, great food and friendly service! Food came out fast and the whitefish tacos and sandwich were fantastic. They were kind enough to sub the fried fish for blackened on my wife’s tacos and she absolutely loved them. Nice and light and very flavorful. Also a delicious bloody mary.

Edit (May 2024): Upon going back this yeah, it has not gotten better in the least. The building is still incredibly dirty but this time, the food made everyone in my group very familiar with the restroom. Not only this, but the staff was incredibly rude and the wait was about 45 minutes for an appetizer (normally I give the benefit of the doubt here, but there were only three or four other groups there at the time we were). We had my toddler son with us and upon arriving, I asked if they had a high chair (which they had less than a year ago when we last visited). Our waitress sarcastically laughed, looked around, and said “If you haven’t noticed, this place is kind of a dive- so, no”. I wish I could say something good about this restaurant because it has so much potential, between location, theming, and the view, but now I can’t even say the food is good.
(September 2023) I’m so conflicted writing a review. The food is fantastic (fish tacos, taco salad, and chicken strips are great!) but the place is an absolute dive. It’s dirty, lights are burnt out inside, visible dirt caked on the floor (I can’t imagine what the kitchens look like), and the outside patio is bowing in the center to the point you actually feel uncomfortable sitting there. Large, fresh cracks can be noticed in some of the support beams holding up the patio. The stairs and walkways are uneven.

Loved the drive-by stop! I love pickles, so the name was perfect for us! Got the rueban sandwich, onion fries, and poutine!! Along with a couple of pickle back shots! The food was so good we forgot to get pictures! But the view was perfect for us!

Service was not the best waitress made several trips bringing one item at a time when asked for silverware and napkins etc. The food was a good temperature the fried was just a bit burnt but still very good option and would get again. The view is worth the trip and the birds were fun if you don’t mind almost being attacked gave us tons of laughs .. we survived without any harm to birds or us ! It was a great experience overall 🙂

This is a really cool place, but the 2 times I have been here the service has been really bad. Idk if I will go back again. The food was good, but it took forever to get a drink, and the bar tender didn’t even know who ordered the food when she brought it to us. She had to ask who’s it was. Multiple food orders were wrong, (we had a bigger crowd both times we have been there) and getting it right took forever. Its sad because it is a really nice place with a lot of potential.
