Chattanooga, Tennessee became the home of The Yellow Deli, opening its doors in May of 1973. Serving healthy food in the midst of a “fried-chicken-culture”, the deli was an immediate success. Finally, there was something different. We served luscious fruit salads, great sandwiches, fresh garden salads, and homemade desserts. Something about the warm, rustic atmosphere drew people like a magnet. At the bottom of the hand-drawn menu was scribbled a sincere and provocative question: “We serve the fruit of the Spirit… Why not ask?” The term “fruit of the Spirit” comes from a Bible verse about love, and joy and peace, being the “fruit” which would be produced by the lives of those who knew God.

One of the coolest restaurants I have been to. The interior is just amazing and the smells that greet you when you exit the car are welcoming. The food is great. Sandwiches and salads. We enjoyed the sandwiched and ended the meal sharing a carrot cake. Staff were friendly, prices reasonable, and seeing a unique dumbwaiter in action to bring the food to the second floor was a neat thing to see. Kids will love that little bit. Worth a visit!

This is my second time eating at this location. Absolutely love their chili and cornbread. Everything feels healthy and tastes delicious. The atmosphere is like an old country store. The employees are always nice. Prices are good and servings are plenty. They also have a little store to the side with foods and homemade goods. Worth checking it out. Parking is also plenty.

Lort, it was so, so good! Just a happenstance that we dropped in yesterday after playing disc golf at the little college nearby. This place is worth the drive all by itself, though! Sweet people, delish food. You need to know that they close at 3 on Fridays and are closed Saturdays.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! Everything about it is just amazing! The food is so healthy & absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is so peaceful & the waiters & waitresses are all so friendly & polite. The wonderful smell when we walked thru the front door was enough to make anyone’s mouth water. We were seated immediately after we walked in & the nicest gentleman came over to our table to show us the menu & everything on the menu sounded so good. I ended up ordering the fruit & nut salad which was simply amazing & my daughter got the chef salad & a strawberry smoothy. This is definitely our new favorite place to eat !!!!

What an amazing and unique experience. If you’ve never visited the Yellow Deli, you should make it high on your list. We got the Reuben and the Country Ranch sandwiches, each were absolutely phenomenal. The drinks were good and made with care. The atmosphere and wait staff are unparalleled. There’s also a nice size store with many handmade goods.

I had a wonderful breakfast here this morning and it was the best waffles and eggs and toast I’ve ever had. Everything is homemade and with no additives and the place is beautifully designed and built and painted .Great food and very friendly staff and the ingredients are all natural and very fresh.The paintings and architecture is amazing in here and all handmade by the owners and workers.Very big menu to choose from and all fresh and healthy ingredients used in every meal option.Very good all around and highly recommendable to anyone for food from all over the world in this one beautiful restaurant.Open 24 hours a day and breakfast served all day long.Everything is wonderful here…
