I started with the calamari. It looked beautiful, presented on a bed of cabbage, but the flavor just didn’t match the presentation. The calamari lacked seasoning and wasn’t savory at all. It was good, but definitely not great — and certainly not memorable.
Next, I tried the Gobernador Taco, and that was a complete bust. It had no flavor, barely any cheese, and the shrimp was overcooked. For a taco that’s supposed to be a standout, it was incredibly disappointing.
Even my Ultra beer was served a little warm. At that point, I knew this wouldn’t be a place I’d return to.
Overall, great service — but the food just didn’t deliver. I’ll be passing on this place in the future, and you may want to consider doing the same.
The staff was friendly and pleasant, but something odd happened. After I ate, they never offered the bill. I was sitting at the counter, and they weren’t busy, but after 10 minutes of just walking past me, I finally asked for the bill, and that took another 5 minutes. It was weird.
Also, don’t bother with rice or beans. Not their specialty, and not great at all.
Stick with the tacos and tostadas, you’ll love it.
Not the best neighborhood, so this is a lunch spot, not a late night snack.
