I wish I could give 5 stars because the employees are really amazing and I don’t think it’s their fault necessarily that the food isn’t 5 stars anymore. I’ve been ordering take out, because after covid we have turned into home bodies, but I remember coming here when we previously stayed in Shelton, prior to moving here and it was phenomenal. Now it’s still the 2nd best Shelton has to offer besides the truck on railroad which I’m not sure if it’s still open. But my daughter loves the Philadelphia roll here 5 stars for that. But my husband has tried the pork & beef teriyaki & his beef was pretty good a little tough but better than the pork which was mostly fat. I’ve had the sweet & sour chicken and the Mongolian beef. About half the beef was pretty good the rest too tough, same with the chicken. Rice and sauces were really good. But like I said when we tried it like 10 yrs back, I had the Mongolian beef, he had teriyaki we were on a date and ended up leaving a $50 tip although we couldn’t really afford it but we were so impressed and wanted to make our servers night, which we did. Back when $50 was a big deal for a $30 meal. We understand prices of quality have gotten ridiculous for restaurants, but it’s still possible if you put your heart into it. So I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble, but with the limited Chinese restaurants in Shelton, I think it’s time to step it up a little again. You’ve got new competition, it’s time to shine and be a 5 star restaurant again. Will update if that happens

Absolutely loved this food and friendly staff. We come to Shelton once a year and we will certainly be visiting here again. The only drawback is you don’t get classic table service… instead you place your order at the cash register, but they do bring it to your table when it is ready and they check on you often.
Thanx folks for the wonderful food.

I really enjoyed the sushi roll. The chicken teriyaki was good. The katsu and sesame honey chicken were just ok. I’ll definitely be back for those rolls!

A great place with good flavor! Also they have bubble tea! If you’re vegetarian, be sure to ask for no fish sauce. The waitress was nice when I asked for no fish sauce and let me know that a number of their dishes usually have fish sauce, including their yakisoba, udon soup, and miso soup.
UPDATE: I have now been there twice. The food was good both times. However, I did notice that the dish I got was different. When I was there for lunch, it had a more Chinese style and, when I was there for dinner, it had a more Japanese or Korean style (no heat either time on the dish I had), even though it was the same dish.

The food is good. Large portions. I ordered the Mongolian beef and chicken katsu combo. I couldn’t eat it all. The katsu sauce needs a re-work, it tasted like A-1 sauce and hoisin sauce mixed together. I asked for teriyaki sauce (to replace it) and it was better. A little on the spendy side but overall it was worth it.

Friendly, easy going service, great menu choices, affordable and self serve hot tea, plus they had games! We went for a birthday dinner on a night where every other asian food place was closed except Zen Burrito. Which is a whole different review. Anyway-They had games available and we played OK Boomer Trivia with our 3 teenage kids while we waited and had a blast! Not long after, everyone’s food came out at the same time, was hot, correct and delicious and the service was spot on- not too much hovering or too little attention. Good food, great portions and a nice, relaxing atmosphere with fun options. I’m actually smacking my head for not having gone sooner. I used to fetch lunch from the Lacey location during my apprenticeship after highschool and it was always a treat. Anyway, 5 cheers for Happy Teriyaki! I’ll be back, and so should you!

Yum! Lots of choices, and price ranges.
I got the tofu wok special and the tofu has some sort of weird flavorless batter on it. Not not very good for leftovers or even when it was fresh hard pass. The olympia roll was tasty, but definitely not enough spicy sauce. (There’s a picture attached to the review 7/25)
The seating is a little cramped, but more private than most places which I appreciate.

Food is always delicious, service continues to be the absolute worst despite always tipping at least 30%. I’m not sure why the woman in front who is always there is so miffed but she definitely is and it makes being there absolutely miserable. Last time for me in this place which is sad because I do love the food but she makes you feel like a burden the entire time and it’s not worth it. People who hate the general public (even the nice/easy ones!) should consider a profession like debt collection where treating people like garbage is applauded. After 3 bad experiences, all with the same grumpy gal who must just wake up angry, the final straw tonight was getting “caught” trying to plug my cell phone in to charge as it died right after I ordered and sat down at my table. Although I was the ONLY customer in the entire establishment she approached me “can I help you find something” (yes, as I’m holding my phone attached to a charger, lol) and told me none of the outlets work because it’s such an old building….knowing she was definitely lying (as I glanced at the several lit up open signs and coy pond with an obvious floor level outlet), I said “wow okay, even the one in the bathroom?” to which she replied, “yeah it’s just too old of a building, none of them work”. FYI- the outlet does work, did a quick test but didn’t charge my phone since it was clear that was not appropriate. While it’s definitely not the responsibility of Happy T to charge my phone, and I fully get that- it’s a small restaurant, I was the only customer, I tipped well upon ordering my meal at the counter, she chose to just outright lie about the outlets for no reason other than to be powerful and mean- kudos on asserting your managerial position so very appropriately. Maybe it’s because I had sweats on after going for a run and looked like a vagrant to her? Peace out Happy T Shelton, wish you’d have people there who don’t hate customers so much for no reason and take pleasure in making someone’s day worse.

Everything I’ve ever tried here has been very good. The sushi, the chicken chow mein, the rice, the Mongolian beef. I am pretty picky about my Mongolian beef, but this is one of the few places where you can adjust how spicy you want it on a scale of one to five, four is perfect for me. Nice and hot without being too much. The lunch portion is a very good size and easily makes two meals for me. Dinner portion is huge and makes 3 meals for me. Rice is included which is nice. Chicken chow mein has plenty of meat too! It’s very flavorful and if I absolutely had to say anything, I would say they could add a little more green onion to the Mongolian Beef, but the flavor is absolutely delightful. I don’t get Mongolian Beef anywhere else. If you’re a fan of Mongolian beef or chicken chow mein, try this place. Win ton soup has egg flower in it too and is so good! Very rich flavor. The customer service is good as well. Prices are also reasonable.
