I ordered the oxtail plate with rice and peas and steamed cabbage. They give you a healthy portion that will definitely fill you up. The meat was tasteful and tender with their marinade. I also ordered the beef patties witch were soft and flaky as they should be. Would highly recommend. Will be going back to try their oxtail chessesteak. Be forewarned that their is a bit of a wait time before getting your food so its recommended that you place your order ahead of of time.

Food looks great on social media and in person, but the taste didn’t compare (was just good, nothing special).

I’ve been meaning to try Jamaica Pon Di Road for a while and was finally in the area, so I got some take-out to bring home for lunch.

I ordered 1 meal (Oxtail with rice and peas, curry vegetables, and plantains), plus an order of Jerk wings and jerk chicken for $58.97 plus tax. The wings came with 2 containers of sauce. The quantity of food served was very reasonable for each item, and it was nice to get a meal from a Jamaican restaurant without excessive rice.

Oxtail: Looked great, quality well-trimmed cuts of meat, very tender, good gravy, just lacked rich Island flavor. The rice and peas were excellent, plantains good, and curry vegetables were a miss. I should have got the traditional side – steamed cabbage.

Jerk Chicken and Wings: Looked great but the wings were mediocre and the chicken legs and thighs tasty, but neither can be classified as Jerk. The meat lacked jerk and smoke flavor, and most of the flavor was on the skin. Seems as though the great jerk appearance comes from regularly basting with their Jerk sauce and not from jerk seasoning that is allowed to sit on the meat overnight and permeate the meat.

Take-out Service: Service was good. Line moved fast, they text you when your food is ready, and mine was ready in 5 minutes.

I saw an ad on Facebook for the oxtail cheesecake, but they were sold out when I arrived. I ordered the oxtail egg rolls, an oxtail plate, and an Acres Shakers juice instead. The wait was long, but the staff was amazing with great customer service. The food is soooo good and definitely worth the long wait. I would definitely come back, just much earlier in the day.

Food was flavorful. Portions were ample size . Thr jerk and curry chicken were seasoned to perfection. Plantains and cabbage cooked just right . Rice and peas didn’t miss . Wish the jerk sauce was a bit spicier The weather was nice so we ate outside at the picnic tables . Nice little vibe with music inside or outside .

I’ve finally took advantage of the opportunity to pay this establishment a nice visit. Boiiii, I was in for a treat! Ordered: Nuff Nuff Food Plate, with Jerk Chicken,Fried Chicken,Plantains, and Curry Veggies.❤️‍ ‍

*Usually, I don’t do before/after pics. Had to for this review so y’all could see how well I deboned the flavorful meat. Side sauces were on point too.✅

I finally stopped by to try the legendary Oxtail Cheesesteak, and the sandwich itself lived up to the hype! The oxtail was incredibly tender and flavorful—definitely a must-try for anyone looking for authentic Caribbean fusion.
I’m giving it 4 stars this time mainly because the fries were heavily over-salted, to the point where it started to overpower the flavors of the cheesesteak. I usually prefer no salt on my fries to avoid this, so next time I’ll be sure to make that request. It was also a bit of a rainy day and the indoor dining area was closed, which made the outside seating a bit cramped and limited due to the weather.
Despite the salt and the seating, the staff was very welcoming and the atmosphere was still great. This shouldn’t deter anyone from checking them out—the food is high quality and I’m definitely looking forward to giving them another try (with less salt next time)!

There was no line when I got there since we arrived at 11am. The service was quick waited about 10-15 mins for our food which was not bad. I enjoyed my non alcoholic rum punch, as it was no too sweet. I ordered jerk chicken, rice and peas and macaroni and cheese with oxtail sauce on the side. They jerk chicken came with a jerk sauce on the side that tasted like applesauce. That taste threw me all the way off. The jerk seasoning wasn’t spicy as all, there was no kick. But the food itself was good and fresh. Not oily at all. I recommend this place to those that are not a fan of spicy food. I would come back and try something different.

One place I visited since it was a food truck in downtown
No lines. Just two master cook whippin the best oxtails plates on the planet. I’ve tried just about every oxtail plate in Houston. Nothing beats or comes close to Jamaican Pon Di Road.
I crave this meal weekly. Falling off the bone. Dirty rice SMACKS. Never be disappointed. I can type here all day describing it but Once you try it you’ll understand. I really wish it were closer but now it’s a 45 min drive from me. (I still go) just not at all as frequently as I want to. MAKE SURE to order online if you don’t want to wait in line until tomorrow.

UPDATE: I CALLED THIS MORNING AT EXACTLY 11AM. I WAS TOLD YOU DIDN’T HAVE TIME TO TALK BECAUSE YOU HAD TO GET YOUR ORDERS OUT! I HAVE YOU MY NAME AND TELEPHONE # AND HAVE YET TO GET A CALL BACK. IT IS NOT GOING ON 6 O’CLOCK PM. PLEASE DON’T WAIT TIL A FEW DAYS PASS AND I CALL NECK AND YOU TELL ME THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN DO. I EVEN ASKED DO I NEED TO COME UP THERE EVEN THOUGH I LIVE WAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF HOUSTON. I WAS TOLD I CAN’T TALK RIGHT NOW AND WILL GIVE YOU A CALL BACK @Jamaica pone di road!

We went yesterday and they didn’t give me the food we ordered. Ordered jerk chicken wings (+4 extra). I was giving just regular jerk chicken. Ordered white rice but they were out so I asked for rice and beans and cabbage. I got mac & cheese and rice and beans. I’m allergic to Mac & Cheese. Tried calling got hung up on and called neck, voicemail is full. They were closed when we received order bc we ordered before they closed. Ordered about 550p bc the long was long as heck and was in line for awhile. Received food close to 7p. Everyone else received the correct order smh. If they were out of wings, they should of said donating like they did the white rice. I will be calling back AGAIN TODAY. I hope I don’t have to drive all the way across town to get this resolved. Refund my money that we overpaid it mane it didn’t please and thank you.

Having to wait 50-minutes for your food and it arrives cold – diabolical! That said, it was A good value for the portion sizes. And enjoyed the island vibe ambience. Houston isn’t really known for amazing Jamaican cuisine. I would say this place is among the better ones.
