I went during mardi gras. Obviously it may change the review. However i felt i needed to review. The food was acceptable but the amount you pay for the food you receive. I would recommend going else where for portion size. I will say the oil in the fried food was clean and what we served was well cooked. However we had a crass waitress that ruined the experience of dining. She wasn’t attentive and patronizing. I also saw on the menu that 18 percent gratuity would be automatically paid for a party of 5 which i had. When i received the bill it was 20 percent. I asked about it and the waitress reply was it was a misprint in the menu..

Man the corn and crab bisque was amazing here. Stopped here for a lunch and ended up staying for a good awhile. Our sever, Jamie, was superb and very attentive. My father reccomended this spot from a trip of his back in the day and im glad to say this did not dissapoint. The shrimp and crawfish combo gagliano lived up to the hype and the cannoli was to die for. Thanks for a great time!

If you’re looking for real deal family Italian be sure and visit Franks down on Decatur. I went for dinner there and had a great time. They don’t rush you and better yet it wasn’t crowded or noisy. The staff took time to chat but didnt linger. Super friendly and polite, Brenda and Leona both deserve a raise!
Here’s the deal, if you’re looking for somewhere fancy, this is not it . Take yo a$$ on uptown and go to some big box Italian chain store with snooty waiters. But, if you want small, quiet, cozy, a full bar, good service, reasonable prices and some kick a$$ Sicilian entrees, come on.
They have street dining as well as an upstairs dining area. It’s quaint but they know their dishes well. Family run since 1965 Frank Gagliano opened on Decatur Street. When his sons came of age the operation expanded to a full menu restaurant. One of the brothers left a few years to open his own restaurant, Ristorante Filippo in Metairie.
Food was great and full on authentic Sicilian. I had a salad, 2X garlic bread, lasagna and pretty much a whole bottle of wine. I think I was there about two hours enjoying the best dinner Ive had in NOLA in quite a long time. Really fun, fun dinner.
Thanks to Brenda, Leona and the folks in the back of the house. Love you guys long time. See you next visit!

First time trying a Muffuletta!!! I chose Franks because they make their olive salad homemade!!! Everything about this sandwich was just right! Delicious as heck Half is plenty to feed two people! The bread had a nice toasty texture the cheese was melted to perfection.. can’t wait to go back to get another one! I give this sandwich 5 stars! You can also get the olive salad in a jar to go!

My sister, my daughter, and I stopped in for a quick lunch and it was a diaster. The restaurant was totally empty at 1pm on a Wednesday, that should have been our first clue. We thought maybe it was just a lull and were sadly mistaken. The staff made this place very unwelcoming and were so unprofessional. They seated us in the very back, right next to the kitchen. The entire time we were there they were very loudly discussing personal problems and on speaker phone making calls and cursing up a storm. Whoever was in the kitchen was particularly vulgar and cursing. We heard everything loud and clear. My daughter was especially uncomfortable and asked to leave several times before we got our food. We ordered two caesar salads, two cups of seafood gumbos, and a side fries. We ate barely half of it. The salads were very salty from some reason. The seafood gumbo tasted fishy in a not so pleasant way, the shrimp inside was overcooked, and I got two big pieces of shell (attached pic). We just called it quits and paid and left. We will never come back here again. It was by far our worst food/restaurant experience of our entire trip!!!!!

I would go here again. The food is pretty good. The service was just so so but it was Mardi Gras. The fettuccine alfredo was superb.

Avoid this place altogether, just awful. A crime to Italian food. The calamari tasted cheap & rubbery.
Water down chicken Marsala with no flavor, I could see the oil & water separating in the sauce. I didn’t take pictures of the rest of the food but we also had ordered the chicken & veal parmigiana. You could taste the tap water in the marinara sauce. We didn’t even bother to finish our food, highly disappointed.
I was left feeling nauseous & sick for the rest of the day. Glad I went with my gut & ordered a bottle of water instead of having the tap. Our bill came up to $186, which included a $25 tip. Not worth the price at all! Nothing about this place was authentic. The most disgusting food we had on our trip. They need to close down or sell the location to some real Italians. The chef needs to rethink their career as a cook.

I Love Franks! I started coming here when Central grocery was closed and now I’m hooked. The muffaletta is awesome, but you should also try the lasagna, the meatball robot, oooh.. and the calamari!

My group of friends had a late lunch after exploring the French quarter. The restaurant was cozy and we just hung out for an hour. The restaurant provided a warm place to sit after being outside.
The food was great. Servers were great. We got to see some drama between a couple of coworkers so it was lunch and a show haha.
I would probably come back when I visit NOLA again.

Way over priced and food is not very good. I’ve been here twice now, trying to give it a second chance, but it was still pretty bad. BBQ shrimp creole is probably really good to a local but gosh it’s was extremely difficult to eat, came with no sides it was quite lackluster even though it LOOKS good. Chicken Alfredo tasted like straight black pepper, and really needed some garlic salt or something to give it some flavor. Feels like sitting in a dive bar and a restaurant at the same time, but not in a good way. We won’t be back. They were nice enough to take off the Alfredo since my party found it unappealing. We ended up sharing the shrimp among the table so we could hurry up and leave, our friend that ordered it bought something later on to satisfy himself. Drink refills are not free either. The staff was nice and the place was clean. The menu desperately needs some side dishes. Maybe a vegetable or two.
