We ordered their Lupe’s platter. (It was a good portion but everything was pretty bland. The cheese in the quesadilla also had a sour taste) Guiso de Res (Tasted okay but wasn’t a “guiso” more like a ranchera sauce) Tortilla Soup (Pretty bland in taste. Tortillas also arrived soggy. I like it when the strips are added at the end and there is still a nice crunch. Also, it didn’t include any veggies which was a bummer. Just chicken and a few tortilla strips)
Service was the worst. We did get seated fast but she hardly checked on us/came around for drink refills. Took a while for her to come take our drink/food order too. We even had to wait a long time for her to pick up our payment.
Overall, will not be returning. Food was just bland and service was horrible.
The servers were super patient , very attentive , and all around really personable! I would definitely recommend and I will be back!
Once we were finally seated, things picked up quickly at first, chips and salsa arrived almost immediately from one waiter, and another followed right behind with menus, which initially felt efficient and welcoming. Unfortunately, after that moment, our primary waiter disappeared for quite a while. We were ready to order and had to wait longer than expected, scanning the room to track him down.
When we were finally able to place our order, the wait for food wasn’t bad, and once it arrived, it was absolutely worth it. The food tasted amazing and the portion sizes were very generous, easily one of the highlights of the visit. The salsa itself was a bit bland and didn’t really match the bold flavors of the rest of the meal, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker.
Toward the end, service issues came back into play, it took a long time to get refills and even longer to get the check, to the point where another waiter noticed and stepped in to help us wrap things up. We ended up tipping him instead, since he was the one who actually made sure we were taken care of. Despite the inconsistent service, the quality and quantity of the food left a strong positive impression, and overall it was still a great meal.
During our visit, the manager, Jennifer, came over to our table to tell us that a group of older women were complaining about our one-year-old being “too loud.” Our child wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary — just normal excitement and occasional squeals that you expect from a toddler. Nothing excessive, nothing disruptive. The fact that management felt it was appropriate to approach us and essentially suggest our baby’s behavior was unacceptable was honestly shocking and completely unnecessary.
As parents, you already do your best to manage young children in public, and being singled out like that was embarrassing and frustrating. A family-friendly restaurant should understand that small children make small-child noises.
On top of that, the food here has always been mediocre at best. We’ve only continued coming because of the location convenience, not because of quality or service. After this experience with management, the convenience isn’t worth it anymore.
If you have young children, I would not recommend coming here — especially if you don’t want to be told your toddler is “too loud” for simply being a toddler.
Its a real shame they charge so much and pay the staff so little they have to “accidentally” add items to your bill hoping you don’t catch the mistake. The bill was corrected but still…. staff should not make this mistake when there are only five tables in the whole place. Its a real shame the quality isn’t keeping up with the prices and city know damn well and good inflation has nothing to do with nachos….
Overall, it was fine but I’ll likely search elsewhere when wanting sitdown TexMex goimg forward.
