The Peanut is hands-down one of my favorite sports bars around Kansas City. They’ve got multiple locations, and I’ve been to pretty much all of them — the best part is the taste and quality stay consistent wherever you go. It’s the kind of place that always delivers when you’re craving classic bar food, a solid vibe, and a relaxed spot to hang out.

My go-to order every single time is their wings — and when I say they’re huge, I mean HUGE. They’re meaty, packed with flavor, and honestly some of the best wings you’ll find in KC. Pair them with a cold beer (especially if you want to try some local options), and it’s the perfect combo for a game day or a casual night out.

Also, don’t skip the chicken nachos. What makes them different is the chicken — it comes sliced and cubed instead of shredded, which keeps the nachos from getting soggy. The result is a plate that stays crunchy, loaded, and satisfying all the way through. If you’re looking for a dependable sports bar with standout wings and surprisingly great nachos, The Peanut is a must.

I visited this location years ago with my daughter and did not review it because our experience was so lackluster that I felt it had to have been a one off because everyone raves about the Peanut.

Tonight my wife and I visited and had a repeat of my previous experience.

Food – I had the chicken nacho supreme which was supposed to come with queso. Their version of queso is nothing but government cheese, and not even good government cheese!!!! My wife who cannot handle black pepper thought I was being dramatic and tried the government cheese. The expression on her face when there was nothing but government cheese made the whole experience a lot more bearable!!!! Her food was good.

Service – Let me start by saying everyone was so nice and pleasant it is actually hard to say anything bad about them. But being nice is not the same thing as providing good service.

Atmosphere – typical sports bar. Lots of TVs almost all of which were on the same channel. In fact only one TV is on a different channel, and there is nothing pertinent on the rest of them.

My belly is full. I am content. I won’t be back.

Stopped by for lunch after putting in some manual labor, this boy was hungry! I Ordered 3 Tacos +1 with Cilantro Chicken. The tacos were bland, no taste from the chicken, dried out. Minimal colorful toppings. $14!!! Sometimes you just think the next bite will deliver. Much to be desired compared to other The Peanut locations. I’ve reported and the Manager said he’ll make it right with me.

The Manager “Andy” was awesome and made things right! The hard working bartender recommended their BLT and you will not be disappointed! YUM!

All good!

First time here and not disappointed. The service was very good, the food was surprisingly good as were the portions and the outdoor seating area was very pleasant as well. I am not a big “Sports Bar” fan due to the noise so the afternoon, low-traffic out door area was perfect.

Good service and good food. I really like the peanut butter burger. Didn’t care for the buffalo sauce but they put in on a separate container so I could try it before putting it on my burger

My hubs and daughter tried this place for the wings when it opened in Olathe. The service was so horrible, and the food underwhelming, they never went back. We were doing a date night tonight and decided to give them another shot.

It was around 1700 on a Saturday and self seating. We sat for a very long time before someone brought us menus. We placed our drink orders, my hubs’ first choice was apparently no longer being served, they just hadn’t bothered to update the menu. The person who took the drink orders delivered a beer. The lady who ended up being our waitress brought the beer ordered about 5 minutes later. Apparently a random beer just was delivered to our table. It was not what my hubs ordered, it was a different beer.

My hubs ordered nachos. The queso was pure government cheese, absolutely no spice or seasoning, just liquid cheese. The Reuben was actually pretty decent. The Cole slaw had a big slice of Brussels sprout in it. I asked the waitress if Brussels sprouts were normally in the Cole slaw, and she had no idea.

We finally got our check and paid by cash so we wouldn’t be hostage any longer. There were people filling the entry waiting to be seated, so they obviously needed the table.

The Peanut in Olathe is one of those places we end up at often because it’s reliable, comfortable, and reasonably priced. It doesn’t try to be trendy or fancy—it just focuses on doing what it does well.

My wife is a big salad person, and this is one of the few places where she’s genuinely happy with the options. The salads are fresh, generously portioned, and actually flavorful. The Santa Fe salad is a regular order for her, but she’s also enjoyed their other salad options because they’re filling enough to be a real meal, not an afterthought.

Beyond the salads, there’s plenty we keep going back for. The wings are a classic Peanut staple for a reason—crispy, saucy, and consistent every time. We’ve also had good luck with items like the BLT, burgers, and other straightforward comfort food on the menu. Everything feels familiar in a good way.

To-go orders have been solid as well. Food is packed properly, portions hold up, and nothing feels skimpy when you get it home. That makes it an easy option on busy nights when you don’t feel like cooking.

The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming—very much a neighborhood bar-and-grill feel. It’s casual, relaxed, and a good place to sit and unwind. The service is friendly and efficient, with staff that keeps an eye on things without hovering.

Overall, The Peanut in Olathe is a dependable favorite. Good salads (which keeps my wife happy), solid wings and comfort food, fair prices, and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s not flashy—and it doesn’t need to be.

The servers were prompt, pleasant, and cute. I got a chance to talk to Marissa the manager and she has to be the reason this place runs so smoothly. The wait times were nothing, the restaurant was clean. The environment was fun. We’ll be back for sure.

The Peanut is one of our favorite hangouts in Olathe! We go there at least once a week (sometimes 3-4 times a week) and have eaten probably at least half of everything on the menu. It doesn’t matter if you go for brunch, lunch or dinner, the food is always delicious, and here’s a pro-tip – they have some of the best breakfast in the area, hands down!

Sure, the wings are awesome, famous and deservedly so, but they really do everything very well and are happy to make mods for you (ask for extra crispy tots or add turkey and bacon to your Ruben).

But enough about the food – the staff has been absolutely incredible in our experience! Whether you’re at the bar or at a table with 20 people, they are very attentive and on point! Super friendly and fun to chat with as well, they really do care about getting your food right!

We have been here before. It’s a seat yourself place. It didn’t take long for them to come to the table. Lots of tv’s. Not a big place. My husband and I shared the nachos supreme. Much better with cilantro chicken than the beef. Just enough to share. My husband got a cup of pasta salad that’s not too exciting and won’t get it again. If wanting a burger, their selection is minimal. Our server Ronie was very nice.
