Got some takeout for a quick meal after class. Cheese curds and beef noodles as well. The cheese curds were super unique and something I would definitely recommend. The noodles on the other hand were average. Want to come again and try some other things. Server was very nice when I picked up my food and next time I plan to dine in.

After trying their food at Taste of Madison, we had to go. Got lucky going early on a Saturday night when they weren’t too busy. Food and service was fantastic. Be sure to try their take on cheese curds, done tempura-style on a stick.

Surprisingly poor experience. We tried to order the kani salad; they were out of crab stick. We had the loaded veggie spring rolls. They are a puree of vegetables in fried/burned wrappers. We ordered the veggie tempura roll and dragon roll. The veggie tempura roll is a similar puree of vegetables (no tempura) in a very chewy rice roll. Tasted less fresh than the grocery store or the airport (out of a plastic box). We also had the dragon roll which was very fishy. I tried to just eat the avocado and it tasted fishy too.

We found Billy Idol “Dancing with myself” to be an odd choice of music for dinner at a sushi restaurant.

We only ate a portion of the food and then left to go home and eat. Try Muramoto at Hilldale. So much better!

If you’re looking for authentic Japanese food, dine here.

The service was impeccable! Our server was friendly and helpful in choosing our meal.

The food temperature was perfect, and the taste, even better.

Atmosphere decor was pleasant to the eye. The outside seating area looked inviting.

Highly recommend this restaurant when you’re in the area.

Mid. Bought a section for New Year’s Eve. They played lofi beats until 11:34 when they played I gotta feeling by the black eyed pees. Severely disappointed that I purchased early tickets and sections tickets for this mediocre night. Check in with as confusing as heck. Bouncer told us to talk to the guy in suspensers and still took 15+ minutes to get us seated. I carried out complementary drink from the bar to our table. Seemed like no one knew what the standard of procedure was. Extremely disappointed in the general organization and the DJ wasn’t event good even though I asked him multiple times to play afrobeats & white girl beats. Waited at the ‘VIP’ section ordering station and still was ignored for 10+ minutes during a mediocre rush at 11:25pm. Could have gone anywhere else for FREE and had a better New Year’s Eve.

We tried some sushi, fried chicken bun and the cheese curds. All were yummy. The veggie sushi was a little bland but to be expected based on the ingredients. The service was fast and very polite. Such a nice atmosphere. Clean and quiet for the amount of people in there. A little pricy but to be expected based on the location. Went for weekday lunch and it seemed well liked without being over crowded. Would recommend!

Came here during happy hour a few weeks ago when Concerts on the Square was happening and had a great time. While it wasn’t very busy when I first arrived, it quickly became packed. Despite how slammed they got, it was clear there was a good system in place as all of the appetizers and drinks that I ordered came out quickly. Everything tasted fresh, and there’s a variety of options to choose from.

Special shout out to Tandra who was apparently the only bartender working at the time. I’ve never seen someone manage the blistering pace of drink orders coming in from both the main dining room and the full bar as efficiently as her. My experience that day made me want to come here more often.

Excellent ambiance and some of the best ramen I’ve had in the Madison area. Excited to try their sushi next time, which also looked incredible. The atmosphere is excellent for a moderately informal date or special occasion, or just grabbing a bite with friends. The cocktails were creative and delicious.

First time tried Tavernakaya and was completely bowled over. Made reservations online and we were seated as soon as we are arrived. Our server was great and helped answer our questions and made good recommendations.

The restaurant is located right across from the Capitol so a perfect location for dining out with excellent service, and friendly atmosphere. Everything we tried was delicious and nicely presented. Loved the poke bowl, spider roll, and chicken dumplings. The poke bowl was the star of the evening, it was so fresh and full of flavors. I will be back to try other things on the menu. Highly Recommend!!

I’ve visited Tavernakya multiple times since moving here in 2022, and it never disappoints. Their sushi is consistently high quality, and I always enjoy stopping by—especially during happy hour, which is when the photos I included were taken.

Tavernakya also offers some of the best Japanese-inspired cocktails and liquor selections I’ve found in Madison. I do wish a couple of their specialty cocktails were part of the happy hour menu, but honestly, the drinks are so good that they’re worth the full price

And I can’t forget to mention the ambiance! If you’re into modern, contemporary interiors, you’ll love the vibe—especially with its location right across from the Capitol
