Visited Badlands Restaurant & Bar on 12/7.
Arrived at 5:12 PM and the restaurant was never more than 50% full, yet service was slow from the start. It took about 10 minutes before anyone took our drink order, and we had to ask for our appetizer.
Timeline:
• Drinks arrived at 5:25 PM
• Appetizer at 5:33 PM
• Entrée order placed at 5:35 PM
• Food delivered at 5:58 PM

Salad Bar – 5/5
Great presentation, everything fresh, and a solid variety of toppings and dressings.
Sweet Chili Shrimp Appetizer – 4/5
Good balance of sweet/spicy, fresh sauce, decent texture. Presentation could be better (3/5).
Top Sirloin (10 oz)
Ordered medium, came out well done. Steak was taken back at 5:59 PM and the replacement arrived at 6:09 PM. Second steak was cooked correctly and tender, but lacked flavor and needed steak sauce.
Checkout Issues
Even the check was incorrect — they tried to charge again for potato toppings on the recooked steak. The manager corrected it at 6:30 PM and sincerely apologized, giving 50% off the entrée, which was appreciated.
Final Thoughts
The food itself was decent, but slow service, an overcooked steak, and billing mistakes definitely hurt the experience. The manager handled the issue well, but the service team needs improvement.

The waitress made the entire experience shit. Never checked on how we like our food. Didn’t make sure the steak was cooked. Wanted to order dessert but she never came and asked just handed the check. So we had to wait for her to come back to ask for boxes. Went back in because we forgot something and she was complaining about her tip. FYI do better!! Don’t forget your customers pay your wages too… Don’t show how miserable you are for whatever reason.

Great looking place and great service unfortunately the food was a bit lacking. I had their ribeye steak rare which came out more on the medium well side. I was there with a big group so I didn’t send it back, but probably should have. My partner had the walleye fingers which were dry which tasted like it wasn’t seasoned. Another family member had the walleye main breaded that was also lack luster with skin still on and way too many bones. The service was very good which helped the overall experience but still overall a bit lacking.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Located in Minot ND is a great eating place. Now mind you, it was busy. I’m guessing because there were only two of us, they seated us immediately. The lady took our order and within a solid 10-15 minutes we were eating exactly what we had ordered. Great atmosphere, all employees were smiling and courteous. Great job everyone!

The service here (many takeouts) is all over the place. Packaging a cold salad with fruit with a hot item, forgetting cutlery (and the cutlery is basically garbage), timed orders being 0-20 minutes off, walleye often teaming (no pun intended) with bones, etc but it’s the only place to get a meal of salmon, wild rice, and veggies. ♂️ The berry blue salad is pretty great though. Rice bowl is good. The salmon is generally good, but when they get it with just the right amount of outside crisp but still juicy? That’s the bomb. It’s only about 25% of the time, but man it’s worth the other 75%.
I’ve dined in once and I have no complaints about that experience. Did make me wish they provided bread and butter with the same take out meals though.

Ole trusty Bandlands. I was craving a steak and they served me a perfectly cooked hunk of meat. The pickle chips were crispy and good sauce. I enjoy that they have multiple options for vegetables sides.

The resturants staff and atmosphere were just fantastic, highly worth dinning here at least once. The food, albeit small for some portions was just splendid; it had me drooling the moment it hit the table, if I had no resolve to act civil, I would have been a little piggy at that table. The staffs very polite, and are willing to assist with any request as long as its in their power. The resturant has: a live fire place, salad bar(potentially endless), a well kept bar(serving various selections), high chairs, and wheel chair accommodations.

Not a fan. I gave it a try because I was visiting Minot and one of the reviews said.. better than longhorn.
I ordered pretzel sticks and they tasted like they had just been taken out of the freezer and put in the oven. A little soggy. The steak was cooked to perfection however, the taste left little to be desired and the soda was flat.
Service was great and fast and restaurant looked very friendly and clean. Just not for me.

This place was hopping on a Thursday night! However, we were seated very quickly. Our server was very friendly and personable. The menu had so many options, it was really hard to decide what to get. The food was decent! We ordered the fried pickles appetizer, which was enjoyable, except for the fact that they were immensely salty. The berry bleu salad and cajun tortellini were decently good, but nothing to write home about.
