The management is very poor from what I’ve observed just from being in there. There always seems to be issues on the backend, like with how their systems communicate with each other? I’ve witnessed them having to troubleshoot the tipping function on their system, it doesn’t always communicate what needs to be made to the kitchen staff, it seems to be a daily thing it’s like every time I go there. They have new owners this year so maybe it’ll smooth out, but from what I’ve seen it’s seemingly gotten worse. I can only imagine the things that customers don’t see. Like three times I’ve gone and they’ve been training a new employee, but then I never see them again. It makes me wonder how bad it must be to work there.
I’ll order the same thing three different times with three different servers and it’ll be three different prices. I’m assuming the fees getting rung up differently, to-go fees for example are 50 cents (which I find very odd considering to-go orders by definition are getting significantly less service than sit-down orders). 50 cents is not something I’m going to argue with minimum wage employees, especially since I have no clue what the actual correct price is, but it’s another of the many things that are off-putting about the place.
The prices for items will also change without any notice until you actually order and see it on the screen, the menu they have up front is very outdated. Quite often I’ve paid for something only for them to realize ingredients are out of stock and I’ll have to replace it with something similar but less appealling, they don’t refund the price difference, and again I’m not arguing with minimum wage employees over a dollar. To be clear everyone there is SO nice and I don’t think they’d actually argue with me about it, but it’s an awkward position and I just want to go home and eat my food.
I haven’t had a very wide range of their menu in part due to dietary restrictions. The things I can eat are mid. Their fries are terrible, I usually end up having to throw them in the oven when I get home and that doesn’t make them edible to me half the time. There’s zero crispiness, in part because they have the worst takeout containers and everything gets soggy in the 10 minutes between when I get them to when I get home and open it.
They used to wrap the garlic bread in paper, now they give you the environmentally unfriendly plastic containers so they have an excuse to charge you 50 cents. Recently the garlic bread has been indistinguishable from toast, like I think they forget to garlic the garlic bread sometimes lol?? But the $6 is not worth leaving my house for another 45 minutes instead of staying home and eating the rest of my food and my toast before it gets cold. Also I’d just feel kind of crazy accusing them of not garlicing the garlic bread, but I don’t think I’m wrong about it.
I don’t think any of my visits there have coincided with when they’ve had musical guests, so I can’t comment on the quality of those.
If you’re looking for a great meal in Monroe, you can’t go wrong with Jeno’s!
Also, recently went to Jeno’s and forgot my wallet. Sylvia (hope I spell her name right) found my wallet by where we sat and drove to my address to give to me. 10 out of 5 on service. Thank you so much, Sylvia
Still very good. In business since 1970, and not much has changed. 70s style Italian/pizza joint. Cash only. Food is typical for the era, and very well done. Prices rock, making this one of the best values out there.
Old review: Had planned on a different restaurant that was not open that evening. Good find. Reminds me of the 70’s Italian places we always had. Cash only (I missed the sign, but we made it work). Only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars, is because of the cash-inconvenience. If (when) they change that, it will accommodate most people.
Friendly service, quiet enough for normal table conversation, food was piping hot and very tasty. The pizza was a nice balance of flavors and wonderful smells, The pasta/sausage dish was great. Wife loved her sandwich. Reasonable prices too.
Pizza was to-go because our other stuff was that good.
