Food was excellent. And more than I could eat. Prices were very reasonable. Service was a little off. Wifes sandwhich was suppose to have horseradish on it. When she asked for some they had to make some up fresh, which was nice but half the sandwhich was gone by the time she brought it. Photo is hot turkey sandwhich. We left the menus at end of table. Waitress came over and says those belong up by the window next to salt and pepper. A little bit rude the way she said it. Plus I know they were trying to clean to get out by 7pm. But dont sweep around people that are eating. It was a Sunday night and the whole other end of diner was empty. Sweep down there. I still left her more than 25% tip.

Hamburger Mac soup was exactly as it should be and enough to fill me up! The fried cauliflower was crispy and steamy even through delivery. I also enjoyed a Reuben with onion rings that disappeared before I could get a picture, but take my word for it…It was perfect. EXCELLENT meal, well worth the cost (which was reasonable and comparable to other local restaurants). Good size portions for a good size cost. Highly recommend!!!

The most bacon I have ever seen stuffed into a BLT!
The sandwiches were great (didn’t really need the fries, which weren’t the best).
Service was friendly and expedient.
Great value on the sandwiches – we didn’t try the hot dogs.
If you like a good old fashioned diner, I’m sure you’d enjoy this spot. Apparently it’s been open since 1951!
I was curious how many times it might have changed ownership…

Fun stop on our way back to NYC from Montreal. Services was quick, staff was friendly and the food was solid! There were also some semi-healthy options which was good.

Just had a Door Dash delivery from Gus’s. The hot dog was RAW (yes, raw!) and the bun was cold and wet and fell apart. There was about a tablespoon of mac salad, with too much onion. My friends love this restaurant, darned if I can figure out why.

Nice and cozy breakfast eaterie near Cumberland Bay State Park where we did camping. The strawberry milk shake was awesome and BIG!! The plates were good and as I expected. The salad bar is simple but good with everything fresh. Not expensive.

If I could give them a lower score on their perch I would. It was completely incinerated and inedible. If they are going to charge almost $19 for a meal it should at the very least not be burnt to a lump charcoal. I buried it in tartar sauce and still couldn’t chew it. I am disabled so I ordered from Door Dash so with the delivery fees it was $34 for a meal I had to throw in the trash. As a person on a fixed income, I can’t afford to be throwing food in the trash! I will never order from them again!

The michagans and french fries were great. The macaroni salad was not good. I took 1 bite. They michagans were on the spicy side which i love. The place is run down and needs a facelift. The server was ok. She was nice just didnt seem to remember what we ordered.

The good: This Family of ownership swooped in mid Pandemic and saved a community staple. Gus’s has been around for a long time here and the old money and boomer generation was certainly happy to see it reopening after and uncertain Pandemic forced closure.
The Bad: The Syrup was rationed as if Table Syrup is unbearably expensive, I ordered Strawberry Pancakes, and got Pancakes with Strawberries on them. I suppose there is no difference, however when I serve my family chocolate chip pancakes I mix them with the batter, so forgive me for thinking the same would happen with the Strawberries. I understand food cost has gone way up, but presentation was less than stellar, and rationing things like table Syrup really was disappointing. I asked for coffee and Orange Juice, my orange juice was from concentrate and came with a separate glass, and a bottle of Minute Maid Orange Juice. I’m confused, how is this saving them money? A Gallon of Store Brand Orange juice is a third the cost of a case of this concentrate stuff, name brand no less. I wont likely be returning here for breakfast, but they seem to have mastered fried food as we were here for dinner several months back and were not disappointed, which is why we figured we would give breakfast a try.
I may seem harsh but I hope this is taken as constructive by ownership because as I said, I cant wait to see what they do next. They really have put Gus’s back on the map here in Plattsburgh, and I heard they are considering a Drive In Theater, this would be BOMB…

Ordered a take out order via their website. It was hot and ready as promised and on time. I’ll definitely order wings again!
