I had the tostones and guacamole, the chocolate grilled cheese, and the puertorrican bowl. Everything was very good, especially the chocolate grilled cheese.
Two days later I returned and it was a terrible experience. I was told it was a 10 minute wait for a table, but it was 20 minutes. Then once at a table it took 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me. The server came to the table and said “what do you want?” Seriously. He is absolutely the reason this review went from 5 stars to one star. Unacceptable behavior.

Chocolate in everything! You would think a place like this would be gimmicky and basic, but the food is legit. I got the Dubai chocolate milkshake and the Serrano ham and manchego on Mallorca bread and I was happier than a pig in mud! After walking around Old San Juan all morning I just wanted something cold to drink. I have been to this place before but had forgotten abt the location in OSJ. I swear it was like the clouds parted and I saw a slice of heaven! It was nice and cool inside. I pulled up to the bar and ordered and in less than 15 minutes I was enjoying my shake and sandwich. The fries come with a choco- ketchup that tastes more BBQ than tomato. I smeared a little on my sandwich too! Don’t wear your good clothes if you are going to have the Mallorca bread – u will end up covered in powdered sugar no matter how neat you try to be. But the mess is worth every bite. And you will leave full and happy.

We love this place! When we come to San Juan, we come here! We love chocolate and they do too! The food is fantastic and creative. The atmosphere is fun and festive. The staff don’t realize they are working in a great place and treat you like they are serving hamburgers at McDonalds. I’m sure the owner will help them understand that they need to raise the level of service to match the great food and fun atmosphere.
It is such an iconic spot, I will still make sure to come again next time in town.
We had the French Toast, Pancakes, Crispy Chicken, and Hot Chocolate… of course!

Awesome atmosphere and friendly staff. Cake to get an appetizer and some desserts to try and it did not disappoint. Ended up with the Mini Beef and Chicken empanadas, lava cake Forteza, Chocolqte Frio, and mini Madeline’s with Chocolate chips. All of the items were fantastic and even took some chocolate home with me. Definitely will visit again.

The food here is always delicious. So is the service. I has steak and eggs and they were delicious. They were served with chutney – and mixing that with a bite of eggs and steak was so good! My friend had a chocolate filled croissant and breakfast wrap. She said it was delicious. Another friend had pancakes with chocolate syrup. Everyone loved what they had. We had wonderful service – definitely stop in for a unique experience!

Excellent breakfast at Choco Bar Cortés in Old San Juan. French toast and pancakes were great, avocado toast was fresh and flavorful, and the breakfast wrap (with bacon added) was very good. Fun chocolate-themed atmosphere and smooth service. Highly recommend.

Fantastic location for brunch. The hot chocolate is divine! I was able to get an iced mocha with oat milk that was wonderful. Pancakes came with a chocolate hot sauce on the side. Staff was attentive and friendly. A definite place for us to visit again.

If you love chocolate, you have to try this place! Everything is so unique and the food is great.
It was easy to find. There was a huge party when we arrived, but was able to get a table pretty quick. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms were clean, and the service was phenomenal.
We told our server that we were vegetarians. He convinced us to try the garden sandwich because it was delicious and different. That fried eggplant should be sold as a appetizer for vegetarians with a great dipping sauce. Our tostones with that guacamole was yummy. It just has shaved chocolate pieces but still was very tasty.
I wished we had room for dessert because the things they were bringing out for other tables looked amazing. I am glad we stopped by here to try it.
The chocolate grill cheese tasted like something I have eaten before but cant put my finger on it. It is sweet but so good. The chef is on point with the food.
Thank you for a great evening of delicious food.

The place was full, luckily we didn’t have to wait much to get a table. The service did take a bit but I imagine with so many customers, all servers were busy.
The food was good. They didn’t have the 70% dark chocolate, so we opted for regular hot chocolate and choco-fresa which was good. The Chocobar pancakes and huge breakfast were good too. There are lots of options for drinks.
