The food was great. The staff was very friendly. There was some kind of crazy witch party going on while we were there, but it didn’t affect us having a good time.

Great service! Food was very good-love the homemade chips with ranch dressing! Ideal beach atmosphere. People were enjoying the line dancing in the main dining room so we opted to sit in the enclosed porch area. They turned the heater on for us as it was a bit chilly. I should have checked the entertainment for that evening and altered our time as the dining room would have been more comfortable. Regardless, our overall experience is one I would repeat.

45 min wait for food and the place was maybe 40% capacity. Food came out cold and poor quality. Even our server said it looked bad. No mention of a refund or anything. Check out the kids grilled cheese. Just toast with cold Kraft slices

We visit OKI often and are always excited to try new breakfast spots—so we were pumped to see Pirates Deck now open in the mornings! This place has such a fun, laid-back vibe and tons of space, which is a big plus during the busy season. It’s nice to have another breakfast option that gives you room to spread out and doesn’t come with a long wait.

Inside is clean, bright, and really cute—exactly the kind of spot where you want to start your day. The service was fantastic—everyone was super friendly and our food came out hot and fast. You can tell they’ve got a good team running the show.

The menu had a great variety—something for every kind of breakfast person—and the prices were almost too good to be true. Our whole meal was super affordable, with nothing over $10. The special that day was a sausage quiche, and it was delicious—flaky crust, great flavor. The waffle was enormous and still somehow light and fluffy. I also grabbed the 6-piece French toast to-go for just $5, and it was the perfect size to share (or keep all to myself… which I did).

If you’re in OKI and looking for a casual, friendly breakfast spot with great food and even better prices, definitely give Pirates Deck a try. Whether you’re fueling up for a beach day or just recovering from the night before, they’ve got you covered.

We recently visited Pirates Deck in Oak Island, North Carolina, hoping for a fun and satisfying family meal, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark.

I ordered the shrimp platter, which was decent but lacked the fresh, coastal flavor I was expecting. My wife went with the BLT sandwich — simple and serviceable, but again, nothing that stood out. One of our sons had the wings, the other had the chicken tenders, and both said they were “fine,” which kind of sums up the overall vibe of the meal.

What really stood out, though — and not in a good way — was the service. It took a long time for anyone to even acknowledge us after we were seated, and we weren’t the only ones who noticed; we actually watched a younger couple get up and leave after waiting too long to be helped. That’s never a good sign.

To be fair, the food wasn’t bad — just very average — but when paired with the slow service and underwhelming atmosphere, it’s hard to find a reason to return. Oak Island has plenty of other dining options, and next time, we’ll probably try our luck elsewhere.

Stopped in a couple times while in the area for work. Have not been in since they reopened. The remodeled front end is awesome! Seating and still room for dancing, bands, karaoke and more. The ship shape bar is very nice. The old school bar area is nostalgic still which is very cool, creepy floors and just original for a really fun hang out. The outdoor enclosed area and bar is a great place to eat and have a drink! Service was great, good was good. Beer was cold! Head out on the patio and throw some bean bags too! This is a must stop place while on the island.

One of my favorite stops on Oak Island. A rustic and lively place with a fantastic atmosphere, an excellent selection of beers on tap and above average bar food. Bring your favorite canine and sit out back on the covered porch bar. Wonderful staff with a friendly service oriented attitude.

I had a really disappointing experience at Pirates Deck. I attended a celebration of life Saturday, February 7th. We arrive at the Pirates Deck shorty after given the program says all attendees are welcome for fellowship and shared memories of a dear friend. Upon arrival, we’re told the party has been moved. We go, and come back to this establishment to enjoy some food.

My disappointment here is mainly due to the customer service from a woman named “Shannon”.

From the start, Shannon was dismissive and unhelpful, which completely took away from what was at first an enjoyable visit.

Simple questions were met with attitude, and there was no effort made to be welcoming or accommodating. Customer service matters, especially in hospitality, and unfortunately this experience fell far below expectations.

Shannon stormed through the bar doors, to meet me with such disgust. I had never even spoked to her. How does one approach a paying customer with a bold attitude and lack of empathy for a situation? Human decency goes much further than a bitter powerless reach in efforts to embarrass a paying customer. Before making my exit, I ask what was your name again? She tells me and proceeds to ask “Do I need to spell it out for you” Completely unnecessary transaction of words and an evil spirit. Coming from a fellow bartender, I would never return to a bar with this “Shannon” as a server.

I truly hope management addresses this, because places like this rely heavily on friendly, RESPECTFUL staff — and this was not that. Truly disappointing.

Very open bar type of dinner, has an inside sitting as well. Loved the decorations and staff was neat. Little dark but Food price is decent. But loved the white Russian that was made. Definitely a great stop for a bar outing.

I read the reviews before we went, and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. We arrived at 8pm, we were seated at 8:30, and got our food at 9:38. It was quite a wait. After that, I was truly hoping the food would be amazing and well worth the wait, but sadly, it wasn’t.

We had a large party and ordered a variety of menu items. Blackened mahi mahi, ribeye, flounder filet, chicken tenders, wings and fish tacos. First we had appetizers of fried pickles (wayyyyy too much breading,) nachos (literally some tortillas with melted cheese,) hush puppies and Mac n cheese bites.

Without going into great detail, everything was over fried and nothing was fresh. I really hoped our experience would debunk all of the mediocre reviews, but it didn’t.

Our waitress was wonderful- she tried her best with what she was working with. In my opinion, they seem very short staffed with inexperienced kitchen/cooking experience. Hopefully they will improve by this time next year and there will be more positive reviews!
