The corn bread wasn’t cooked through, liquid in the middle, unsanitary. Certain items are orderable on certain days and times only while printed on the same menu. The fresh juice was pretty good. I wouldn’t go a 2nd time but was cute to see what they were trying to do.

I’ve been coming here for 3 DECADES and am so sad to see what this restaurant has become. When it was over at the mall they gave you free warm bread with carrot dip– during the height of pandemic when everyone was doing take out, they wouldn’t even give us UTENSILS to eat our food in the car with. On my birthday last year the cooks apparently went on vacation together and because of this there were literally three items on the menu, not even entres– I had to get nachos on my birthday. Been back a few times since then, and once they screwed up my order, our food took FOREVER, and the waiter was literally RUNNING around like a chicken with his was cut off (sorry I know we’re vegans here), we overheard two other tables making verbal complaints about how long it was taking. Last night was really the final straw for me. Our food took almost TWO HOURS, everyone around us was getting their food, even people who came in after us, which is crazy and it was only about half full in terms of capacity. I ordered the cesar salad, my dad ordered the seitan. He asked to replace the brussel sprouts with extra mashed potatoes because he has to watch his vitamin K. They charged $3 extra for the replacement. They apparently had a late tofu delivery, and then ran out of mashed potatoes and had to make more (this was at 6:30pm), which is why it took almost 2 hours to get our food. Just excuse after excuse, zero accountability. They didn’t comp us anything, not even THE $3 FOR THE REPLACED MASHED POTATOES. Absolute train wreck in terms of kitchen management and customer service. Wow I’m so sad to write this because it’s been such a staple for so long, but I will not be returning anymore.

The waitress was very welcoming, attentive and friendly. The vibe and atmosphere was cool but the food was not so good. Had the appetizer of Tempura Calliflower. Was ok but salty. My meal was average. Had the Southern Plate. Cornbread was really good. Beans bland. Tofu was nicely cooked but a bit salty. Friend had the Korean tofu Special. The Tofu was marinated in a teriyaki sauce that was very salty. So salty she didn’t eat it. Rice was soft and bland. Pickled vegetables were good. Waitress took the Tofu meal off the bill. Stomach pains after we left. We won’t be heading back there.

Stepping into ION was a treat for the eyes. The atmosphere was spot-on, a space that made you feel instantly comfortable. The service was a definite highlight – attentive and friendly. While the food itself was perfectly acceptable, offering a decent range of plant-based options, it didn’t quite reach the same heights as the ambiance and service. It was a solid meal. Overall, a pleasant dining experience with a great atmosphere and great service, making it a worthwhile visit even if the food is simply “okay.”

Second time here I have a couple of friends that a vegan and I take them here their vegan I’m not. HOWEVER even though I’m not vegan this food is absolutely delicious! My vegan friends were excited that I found something that works for them. The vibes here are so chill, calm, and collected. The stare is super sweet and caring. Food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful!

This has to be one of my favorite restaurants. I’ve been vegan since 2016 and I’ve never had vegan food like this. It’s incredible! I would love to see another space open up someday or even a food truck. These people know what they’re doing.

I ordered takeout the meal was great, but my sweet potato fries did not come with any ketchup or sauce. Also, I was bringing my food to sit in the hospital with my husband and utensils to eat it would have been great, but when I asked for them at pickup I was told by the host “we don’t have utensils”.

We came to Ion Restaurant after a wonderful Middletown Pride day. Upon service by our waitress she was warm and welcoming!
The food was savory and fulfilling where I had to take the rest to go. Italian soda was different from regular soda.
If you are open to trying an all vegan restaurant, definitely come.
We enjoyed our time there. Definitely will return next time we are in town.

Amazing restaurant for the conscious minded!! We tried a bunch of things (see pics!!) and loved it all. My surprise favorite was the Caesar…so creamy, crisp, and delicious!! Get the seasonal tea too!! Lots of clearly marked gluten/soy/nut free options. Staff was cheerful and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Great for anything from an intimate date to a large celebration. We will be back!!
