This is a really nice, but there isn’t a window on the place. If you want to sit in the dark at 2pm and have a few drinks, this is the place for you. I loved my experience here, but it’s too dark in here for me. The woodwork is really nice, the burger was delicious, and the drinks are all here. Our server was pretty special too. Enjoy…

I stopped for lunch on a Saturday with my parents. Two of us ordered the tenderloin steak sandwich (done medium) and the other ordered the roast beef.

The menu states “Our rolls are baked fresh daily,” so imagine our surprise when one of the steak sandwiches had a spot of mold right on top of the bun. We pointed it out to the server (a young lady who was pleasant though inexperienced) who took it back to the kitchen for the bun to be replaced.

The other steak sandwich, though ordered medium, was cooked very rare. What’s more, it seemed to be completely unseasoned and, more concerningly, both smelled and tasted ‘off’. Though I’m far from being a snob and cannot recall ever declining to eat a meal at a restaurant due to fear of food quality, after the first bite I chose to leave the rest of my sandwich uneaten. I didn’t bother to ask to have it remade – by that point I wasn’t going to trust anything coming out of that kitchen, and our server was already shaken enough from the moldy bun.

We didn’t ask for a discount, nor were we offered one (same is true for refills). The poor quality of the food and overall experience were already evident to the server, so we didn’t cause a fuss. We politely paid our bill, left a regular tip, and left. Obviously, we will not be back however.

Yuck.

We’ve eaten twice so far during this visit to Oshkosh and are likely to come back a few more times before leaving town!!

This restaurant is very convenient for people visiting the Oshkosh air show. A free shuttle service stops at the back gate so it’s convenient for lunch, dinner or drinks.

Our first visit, we ordered the Little John sandwich. This time, it was the French Onion Soup (not recommended), the Prime Rib Sandwich (excellent), and the roast beef sandwich. We particularly like it for lunch because the prices are very reasonable compared to the concessions at the show and the food is really good.

The only thing is that my companion ordered the Smokehouse Burger medium rare today but it arrived VERY rare!!

The food was top notch, the staff was exceptionally kind and friendly, the decor was super cool, and it was cheaper than fast food. The sandwiches dont automatically come with fries, so you don’t feel pressured to eat more than you’re actually hungry for, and the meals are cheaper because they leave off the side, so you end up spending less as well! I honestly think more restaurants should adopt this model. I ordered the Friar’s club, and my husband ordered the Little John, and we both halved our sandwiches and traded one half. Both sandwiches were out of this world!

Although it’s darker than a basement in Kansas, the food here is amazing and prices are superb. Highly recommend the Reuben sandwich and spotted cow, though the cake portions are quite large.

Haven’t been here in years, and it was on the way, so we stopped for lunch. We got the cheese nuggets before our meal. The crispy coating with cheddar cheese inside was delicious!

I had the Friars club on a croissant. I choose hot. The turkey and ham were generously stacked with bacon and Swiss as well. Mayo on the side. The croissant was not hot but the filling was. Very good and filling. I took half home. Hubby had the bacon cheeseburger. 1/2 pound burger cooked to your liking, and he enjoyed it and almost couldn’t finish.

Our server was nice and took good care of us. 2nd visit un years and good as I remembered.

This place is really hit or miss. We’ve had really excellent service, maybe two or three times out of the seven or eight times we’ve been here. This time our waitress never came back to check on how the food was. Took a very long time for a refill. She came to give us our check and then had the bus person bring back our change. Never even said thanks for stopping in or anything. So hard to find good service these days. The fake it till you make it reference does not apply, even here. The dishes were all stacked on the table, and she never even offered to take any of them.

Took my son to this place for the first time. He was surprised how nice it was. I explained how it was the place to be in the 80’s and 90’s.
Still great service and exceptional food.

I hadn’t ate there in year’s. Expecting it to be very good and it was horrible. My daughters chicken nuggets were cold in the inside. My soup was lukewarm. The cheese wasn’t melted on her hamburger. Everything was very bland. Big disappointment.

Not my waitress, but one other was standing explaining her day to someone. When things are this busy that’s the last thing a waitress should be doing. Mine explained she was new but she was very good and I would not have known she was new. My waitress was Rose M.
