Botiwalla by Chai Pani is chef Meherwan Irani’s homage to his life-long love of kababs, Irani Cafes, and the late night street food scene of India. With Chai Pani, Meherwan captured an aspect of street food in India often referred to as chaat – savory, multi-textured snacks like bhel puri, sev potato dahi puri, and vada pav. But the street food scene is vast in India and with Botiwalla, Meherwan is diving into another of his big loves – grilled meats, flat breads, fresh herbs, and wraps. This is the scene that springs up at night in India, when the grills come out, the fires get lit, and late night revelers and commuters get fed.

If you are low carb-ing then these are for you. No breading, just seasoned and fried crispy okra with some fresh lime to squeeze on them.
I’ve definitely found a place and snack that I’ll be coming back for when we come back to Optimist Hall! So good!
Ok.. adding to my review.. these were so good that an hour later I had to go back and get another order. Enjoy the other pic with the fries that I had to hide from the crew! Don’t pass these tasty nuggets by!
The vada pao was excellently seasoned, the bhel puri chaat was legit, and the paneer tikka was delicious. All well spiced. I washed it all down with a spiked chai (I always opt for less added honey).
When we ordered we were asked if wanted naan with it, and agreed. We were charged $4 extra. We thought it was a free option like tortilla chips at some restored even free naan on a particular salad place near by. Honesty offering something that isn’t free, the Up charge should be explained ahead of time.
Our food was done very quickly and tasted delicious. My only other issue was the fact that we literally received four small pieces of chicken for spending $18 on a meal, I would expect a little bit more meat
The space is very big and open. There are plenty of seating. They have lots of spices and cultural items for purchase.
Everything has great flavor and is extremely well cooked. My go to is the Chicken Tikka rice bowl. It had so many wonderful flavors with a bit of a kick.
Also the staff is very kind and helpful when you have questions about things.
AND I think the prices are very good too. Not too expensive like other places inside Optimist Hall.
It’s always fresh. Always fast. And tastes absolutely delicious. Like, it’s so good.
Me and their lamb roll, besties. SO YUM, go here!!!
Visited in Asheville and was very impressed here too.
The chicken Tika sandwich is my favorite item on the menu.
The lamb sliders are very generous and great for sharing
Its located in the food court and have their own seating as well as pick up to sit outside
Will save for other visits.
