Taconeta was one of those meals that stops you mid bite. From the menu: “Grilled sweet potatoes with pumpkin seed salsa macha, cilantro-lime aioli, and crispy kale.”
The tacos were outstanding. Balanced, layered, thoughtful, and clearly coming from a kitchen that understands restraint and seasoning. Nothing overdone, just really well executed flavor that lets each component shine.
But the sweet potatoes… I am still thinking about them. Deeply caramelized, perfectly tender, with this surreal combination of sweetness, spice, and acid that just lingers. As chefs on a road trip, it takes a lot to make us pause like that, and this was the dish. The one we will be talking about for the rest of the drive.
Add in genuinely warm, friendly service, and it was an easy highlight of our time here.

This place is fantastic. It was packed, but an employee told us if we would sit outside (winter night in the 50s) he would take our orders so we didn’t have to wait in line. That worked great because we were getting the first of our food while others who opted for inside were still in line. The food was amazing. The only quibble was the pollo taco was not great, merely OK. That stands out because the rest of the food is amazing. The brisket taco was very good and the Baja fish taco was great. The two best things, though, were the deep fried green beans and the sweat potatoes. I would go back again and again for just those. The can’t call the green beans a healthy alternative to fries because they are deep fried, but I think they are a better alternative. The best was the fried sweet potatoes. AMAZING. The server, who was wonderful, young bearded man, tried to give me the recipe and it sounded crazy complicated. So happy we tried this place and the experience has influenced our opinion of El Paso to the positive

PLEASE OPEN UP A SPOT IN TUCSON!!!
I fell in love with Taconeta. The food, the service, the decor, the vibe, everything was amazing. After arriving in Fort Worth, I found this spot on Yelp. I’ll be honest, I was a little hesitant at first because one person said it wasn’t worth the wait. But the good reviews totally won me over, and I’m so happy we decided to go.
It had started to rain lightly when we got there, but the line moved quickly, and honestly, I could see why people wait. It’s definitely worth it. The process is super easy. You get in line, check out the menu on the board or grab a physical one, place your order, and then they seat you. If you want more food, the servers walking around are so friendly and attentive, they’ll happily take your order.
I tried the suadero, carnitas, and mushroom tacos, and wow, they were all delicious. If I had to choose favorites, the mushroom and carnitas tacos were the winners for me. The elote in a cup was okay, the corn was a little starchy and not as sweet as I like, but the corn on the cob was amazing.
Even the music was great. I just wanted to dance and eat tacos all night. If I’m ever in El Paso again, I’m coming back for sure.

Really fresh food. We loved the elote and shrimp tacos. Salsas were really
Good. Walk up ordering. Pretty tight parking situation. They have a drink menu but we didn’t order any.

Great food and drinks in a cool atmosphere.
The Tacos and Margaritas are excellent!
We are not vegans but they even have vegan foods.
We have ate here many times now and the wife and kids love it as well!

Everything we had was delicious! I appreciated the veggie/vegan options as well. I got the avocado tostada and mushroom tacos, and we shared the tempura green beans, which were a unique standout. The meat tacos seemed more standard but the vegan ones were special! Did not try any drinks but they looked good too. Parking was easy in their lot.

Great reviews so I HAD to check this place out. If you are in the area you owe it to yourself to try this place. Great staff. Plenty of seating for inside, outside and you can bring your pup. I had the chicken and the pork tacos.

I’m a big fan of this restaurant, one of the few places where I can go and eat I am vegan and I feel like I can cook myself any food I want better than any restaurant will ever do. I can’t do much salt. I can’t do oil so it’s not easy to get somebody to cook for me. I normally really love this place but I do have to modify the cooking, and today my food was all cold. Not just warm, it was cold. Also the size of the sweet potatoes has really decreased in size, seven bucks for a small little four slices of potatoes. I was thinking I was going to take home most of the sweet potatoes, but I ended up eating everything because it was such a small portion. I was the only one in the line, which normally there’s a big line to order, but despite that my food was cold. I still ate it, I mostly enjoyed it, but it was cold, it would’ve been 100% awesome if it would’ve been warm or hot. I am also a minimalist, I don’t like to waste things and I got three forks for my meal. Just one person. I put in the landfill two extra forks for nothing. I asked for the salsa Macha on the side, and they didn’t even bring it. I had to ask for it.

Amazing elotes! Best ones I ever had .. had to order one to go after taking one bite. The pork taco I had was also really good. Wasn’t a big fan of the Aztec salad personally. Would stop by again if I’m ever back in town!

Last night in El Paso and had to visit here after seeing the crowd. You order outside and they give you a table inside or outside depending on your choice. I got the shrimp and chicken taco and loved it so much that I ordered more shrimp tacos again ! A bit crowded but totally worth it for authentic tacos !
