Cicala Trattoria – Back in 1997 a unique opportunity started to present itself in the centre of Prague – an opportunity to taste the real Italian cuisine flourishing under the baton of the culinary maestro Aldo Cicala. Today it has already been fifteen years since the restaurant opened for the first time and over these years it has won renown for its cosy family atmosphere, received numerous prestigious awards and welcomed many famous personalities. The restaurant owes its success first and foremost to its rich homemade Italian cuisine served with great attention to detail under the supervision of the talented chef David Cicala and to its emphasis on the quality of traditional ingredients.

We were directed to go downstairs by a kind gentleman. The dining room is downstairs in the cellar and was so warm and inviting!
Service was great as was the food we ordered! We started with the Minestrone which arrived in a tureen and was excellent! So flavorful, we finished the entire tureen! I went for the Carbonara while my husband had the Amatriciana and both were excellent. This may be one of the best Carbonara’s I have had!
Thank you to the owner and staff for a memorable Italian dinner in the wonderful city of Prague!
The portions are good size and its an affordable price, the food comes quite quickly and tastes amazing! Theres nothing bad i can say here.
We were even given a send off offering shot
100 %recommended for a chill lunch or dinner.
We were welcomed by who I would imagine the father of the restaurant. He brought us downstairs and was seated in the basement. Decor felt very like a real family run restaurant and authentic. I just knew the food would be amazing. We ate too early and that may be the reason why we were the only ones eating downstairs. Food was very nice. Everything was perfectly seasoned. I will definitely be back!
➕ Very generous portions
➕ Acceptable in-person service
➕ ☕ Good cappuccino
➖ Rude and sarcastic tone during phone reservation
➖ ⏱️ One-hour reservation feels restrictive
➖ ️ Long waiting time for mains (~25 minutes)
➖ ⭐ Food quality below expectations
➖ Pasta served excessively hot
➖ Rubbery seafood; oily, bland tomato sauce
➖ Dessert poorly executed (hard dough, bland filling)
Unfortunately a disappointing experience.
When i called to make a reservation the worker was unpolite and sarcastic.
The reservation is only for an hour, which is quite short.
The staff during my visit was ok, quite, nothing special, but it took them over 25 minutes to bring the pasta after i have ordered (considering that the reservation is only an hour, this is too long in my opinion).
The food looked pretty and the portion are very big.
However, the quality was not as high as i expected (with all the high reviews). When the pasta was brought is was scolding hot, it was burning my mouth, so i had to wait quite a bit. The seafood was rubbery and the tomato sauce was plane and tooo oily (as a tomato seafood pasta it should be swimming in oil on the bottom). But overall it was ok pasta.
The desert was also not great. The dough was like cardboard and i couldn’t break it with my fork. The filling was bland. And in general it didn’t have much flavor.
The cappuccino was good.
