From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the rich, savory aroma of simmering broths and sizzling appetizers. Their miso and tonkotsu ramen are local standouts, with perfectly cooked noodles, tender cuts of meat, and broths that taste like they’ve been bubbling for hours. The pork gyoza is crisped just right, and the agedashi tofu is one of the best meatless bites in town. It’s clear the kitchen puts thought and pride into the food they serve.
But as much as I enjoy the menu, I can’t help but feel a little boxed in every time I go. Mikoto is tucked into a small strip center space, and it feels small—cozy, sure—but a bit too tight when the place is busy. There’s an undeniable charm in the way it’s decorated, and they’ve done a great job making it feel warm and comfortable inside. Still, the limited seating and tight layout don’t leave much room to breathe, especially during peak hours. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re hoping for a more open, relaxed dining experience.
That said, I keep going back. Because at the end of the day, it’s the food that counts—and Mikoto gets that part absolutely right. Whether you’re a ramen lover or just someone hunting for a flavorful, comforting meal in Corpus Christi, this little shop is worth a visit. Just don’t be surprised if you’re elbow-to-elbow with fellow ramen fans.
Food: delicious. Atmosphere: on point. Service: refreshingly friendly and attentive.
Definitely give this place a try, if you haven’t already. I can almost guarantee you won’t be disappointed…unless you lack taste buds and depth of any kind. In that case, there’s nothing for you here!
I ordered the pork miso ramen and my husband got the beef ramen. I was surprised that I enjoyed the beef ramen more than the pork. The flavor was delicious on the beef and there was a decent portion of meat in the bowl. The noodles in my ramen were clumpy/stuck together. We also had the unagi jun (eel over rice) which was really good but had too many fatty bits for my personal liking and preference.
HONESTLY the star of the show was the mochi for dessert – it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. It definitely tasted home made in the best way.
The service was quick and extremely friendly.
They have a great selection of appetizers and drinks as well and it was all delicious. Definitely coming back here soon. The staff was very nice also.
