I wanted to share an update after giving Cha Yen another opportunity. I’m happy to say there’s been a noticeable improvement in consistency. My usual red curry has been consistently well-portioned, flavorful, and made with the right balance of ingredients each time, which has made the experience much more enjoyable and reliable.
While I’m genuinely sad to see the drunken noodles removed from the menu (one of my favorite orders), the care and consistency they’ve brought back into the kitchen hasn’t gone unnoticed. I appreciate when a restaurant listens to feedback and shows improvement through action, and because of that, I’m glad to continue supporting Cha Yen and hope they keep this momentum going.
I’ve been a loyal customer of Cha Yen for a long time and have always tried to be patient with the mishaps along the way. I even left a positive review before because I truly enjoyed their food and overall experience.
I usually order the red curry with tofu (no basil), and while it used to come in a good-sized portion, they eventually changed the container size and claim it’s the same amount but it’s clearly not. What’s been even more frustrating is how often they’ve added basil to my food even though I always specify not to. The last time I ordered drunken noodles, I went in person and ordered directly at the counter, and when I got home, there was a heavy amount of basil in it. I honestly wondered if it was done on purpose, but I didn’t bother calling. At this point, I’m just exhausted from dealing with the same mistake.
The biggest issue now is the inconsistency, I never know what to expect. Today was the last straw. My red curry came in a round tupperware container with a lid that didn’t close at all, which made a mess in my bag. There were barely any vegetables and no eggplant at all; I basically drank coconut broth. I wish I had taken a photo of today’s order to show the difference, but honestly, I wasn’t expecting such a disappointing experience. My husband also had to wait about 30 minutes for our pickup order, which had been sitting bagged up on the counter the entire time. No one noticed until he finally got up and asked about it.
It’s disappointing because I’ve been such a loyal supporter, but at this point, I think I need to step back for a while. I really hope they can bring back the consistency and care they once had.
Nice restaurant big tv.
