We got there for Happy Hour on Sunday (starts at 3PM!) and ordered the “Pickle Whimsy” (a small assortment of housemade pickles, inexpensive and delicious), garlic mushroom skewers, shrimp and grits, the London Broil bruschetta, and Dungeness crab hush puppies. We also got the Happy Hour wines and Old Fashioned as beverages on the side.

Our bartender was friendly, helpful with the menu, and the food was all impeccable. ESPECIALLY the Shrimp and Grits. We’re going back as soon as we’re back in Newport. Just a fantastic experience across the board.

I live here in Newport and rarely dine out as the food around here is so underwhelming….until today.
I am a retired Chef who still cooks at home every night. My husband suggested that we go out and try Myril’s, which I had been wanting to go to since they opened, and I can’t say enough about how good our food was, not to mention the view!
Hat tip to Brandon our server and to the Chef, my Pasta was cooked perfectly! This is definitely a restaurant worthy of 5 Stars and where we will be dining often.
Pictured is the Seafood Linguine, House Ricotta & Beet Salad, Carrot Cake and the view from our table.

Excellent food and service! We ate there twice today. Stacey was a phenomenal waitress. Super friendly and made you feel welcome. Will be back just because she was so awesome!

I was hoping to give a good review here, but it was a very poor experience. We waited almost 45 minutes to even have our order taken, overall time was over 2 hours, with extreme wait in between ordering and even getting our bill. The service was very poor to say the least. The waitress was nice while at our table, but had a hard time multitasking. There weren’t many people there so I am not sure why it was taking so long for service. Aside from the service the food is very pricey with not great portions. Barely any options for kids, the only option offered for kids was a side of fries or butter noodles which were over priced and very bland. We also ordered the seafood pasta and steak served with grits and it was not worth the price. Then we get to the desert which I was hoping would counterbalance the experience, but that also was very off tasting, like the crumble pieces on top tasted stale. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant, we were very disappointed not worth the money.

On a scenic drive through coastal Oregon, we turned to Google Maps to find a dining spot. A striking image of a unique carrot cake caught our eye, leading us to this restaurant. Intrigued by the photo and solid ratings, we decided to give it a try.

Our arrival around 4:10 PM on a sunny Saturday afternoon was met with a quiet entrance – no host in sight. However, spotting a couple enjoying drinks confirmed the place was open. After about a five-minute wait, we were greeted and shown to our table.

The drink menu boasted creative options, and I opted for the sangria, pairing it with a charcuterie board and warm olives to kick off our meal.

The arrival of our starters was prompt, and the warm olives were an immediate highlight – a surprisingly delightful twist we’d never encountered before. They paired wonderfully with the charcuterie selections. The Sangria itself was truly exceptional, easily surpassing even those I’ve savored in Andalusia.

Moving onto heavier fare, I tried the London Broil Bruschetta and the Steak Frites. The bruschetta was a unique and satisfying dish – substantial without being overwhelming, offering subtle yet distinctly appetizing flavors. The Steak Frites featured outstanding fries – wonderfully fresh and fried to absolute perfection, crispy and golden in a way that would impress even the most discerning Belgian. The steak was tender and cooked well; while perhaps not a life-altering dish on its own, it contributed nicely to an overall great plate.

Finally, the moment sparked by that Google Maps photo: the carrot cake. Topped with candied carrots—a novel touch I’d never encountered—it was remarkably light, refined, and felt like edible art, offering a sophisticated and memorable end to the meal.

Despite the initial wait to be seated, this Newport gem delivered a memorable dining experience that rivaled if not beat more upscale venues. What makes this restaurant stand out is its amazing food quality. I’ve been to pricier places that couldn’t match the taste here. Every dish, from the creative warm olives to the tasty bruschetta, perfect fries, and stunning carrot cake, was carefully made and served. This surprising find was a delicious highlight of our coastal drive. Highly recommended.

We wanted to see the King Tides down the coast this year so we planned a great weekend around Newport. We really wanted to catch the Christmas ships on the bay too so we searched the socials for a nice restaurant on the water and we found it!!!

Myril was a wonderful experience in every way. Dinner, drinks, view, hospitality… ALL THE STARS! It was a packed house on a crazy holiday night but we had the best time!

We had the “Grand Board” I had the Duck Special and a (ok a couple) glasses of wine plus a wonderful cocktail suggested by the bartender to end my night.

Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in town!!!

Myril is my new favorite place to eat and drink in Newport! If you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favor and go soon! The food and beverage choices are amazing and you can tell each item is an act of love from the chef to this community. Friendly owners and staff, and the view is one of the best in town! My favorites: their red wine selections and the fried chicken thighs. Thank you, Jen and Staci! See you again soon. ☺️

We thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine’s Day dinner at Myril. Our server was fun and funny, and the dinner selections we made were wonderful. We enjoyed the decor and atmosphere, which was upscale but not snobby, and plan to go back to try the selections on their regular menu.

If you’re visiting Newport on the beautiful Oregon Coast, I highly recommend Myril! The food is exquisite in taste and presentation with a curated wine list, the decor is contemporary and artistic, and the service is attentive and thoughtful. We love that they encourage sharing dishes so that you can try multiple options. We enjoy visiting for dinner or just for a nightcap, coffee, dessert or cheese plate. Plus, you are treated to a lovely view of Yaquina Bay. It’s located just beyond the hustle and bustle of the Bayfront at the Embarcadero Resort.
