My family have been waiting to try this place for a while. We finally decided to try this place and my mom was super exited because she wanted this fish po’ boy (made with cod). We got our food, starting to enjoyed our family night when she noticed, after starting her sandwich, that it was shrimp. She is allergic to shrimp. Now mistakes happen, however, this was not a simple mistake. Thankfully my mom didn’t have to get rushed to the hospital.
I called the restaurant to speak with the manager. Mike came on the phone and didn’t believe they made a mistake. He was very condescending with his responses and even made jokes about the refund saying “I can give for a refund for just the sandwich and a piece of key lime pieee” in a funny tone. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. This is mother and if anything were for happen to her, it would have been very devastating. I asked for a full refund and was told that wasn’t going to happened, but I can bring the sandwich and receipt back.
When I went back Mike left, leaving his associates to deal with this issue that is still not resolved. Mangers are suppose to be leaders for their staff and the fact that he left just shows he is not ready for a leadership position. I’m just very disappointed and will not support this business or the other locations.
I was looking at the reviews and thought the way the owner leaves comments on customers’ reviews were hysterical so I thought I might give them a visit myself.
Food was mediocre at best. But the price is something you’d see at a 3 Michelin star gourmet full course seafood restaurant. Some of the employees were helpful but the food was just not it. Not sure why the owner has such a massive ego. My fried flounder was burnt and half of my fried shrimp were burnt and the other half was just not cooked. I left without making a big deal out of it because I knew I wasn’t gonna be returning anyways.
The owner of Keep it Shrimple seriously needs to learn how to run a business. The way he talks to his customers itself is an enough reason to stay away from this place. Not to mention the food doesn’t back up the way he talks.
