Reviews
Our starters were: Salt and Pepper Squid, Banh Xeo, Banh Cuon & Grilled Quail.
Our mains were: Bun Bo Hue, Bun Rieu Cua and Bun Ca..
And we left nothing behind!
We had Kory and Chloe serving us and they were lovely! We will definitely be coming back to try the variety of dishes they have to offer. 10/10 would recommend to all my family and friends! Watch out for this space, queues will be out the door!
The restaurant and the food are very clean, food is cooked to order and served hot and tasty. The ingredients are fresh and of high quality. They’ve only been open a few days so there were a couple of tiny issues, I was waiting a while after being seated before someone came to take my order, but I couldn’t order because I hadn’t been given a menu, I wasn’t in any rush so I didn’t mind waiting at all. The new server brought me the wrong drink but it was rectified quickly and staff were really nice about it. Portions are VERY generous and good value for money. I ordered Spring Rolls £7.50, Phở Bò Chín £13 and Vietnamese Iced tea £5.
The restaurant was quite busy at Sunday lunchtime and I’m glad to see people are supporting a local business.
Regarding accessibility, there’s a small step into the restaurant and another small step into the toilet but everything is on the ground floor. If you use a wheelchair or similar mobility device, it may be a good idea to call ahead and let them know because the spaces to navigate around the restaurant are quite narrow.
Welcome to the neighbourhood Viet House! See you again soon.
For starters, we ordered Vietnamese fried spring rolls and Bánh cuốn. The spring rolls were mainly just salty, lacking depth of flavour, and the fish sauce dipping sauce was very mild with little taste.
For the main, I had the grilled pork noodle dish. Again, it was mostly just salty without much of the distinctive Vietnamese flavours, and the pork had a strong pork smell. The portion of meat was also on the small side.
I ordered a freshly pressed apple juice, but by the time it arrived at the table it had already oxidised and turned a dark brown colour.
As it is winter, the heating was not on inside the restaurant, and we had to keep our coats on throughout the entire meal, which affected the overall dining experience.
The restaurant charges a 10% service charge, but the level of service did not really reflect this. When asking for the bill, the staff brought it over and immediately asked whether I would be paying by cash or card before I had even had a chance to look at it, while I was looking at my phone, which was a bit surprising.
As the restaurant has just opened, I also noticed that the current food hygiene rating is 4 stars. Since it is still new, I do not want to leave an overly negative review and hope they can improve on flavour, consistency, and service details going forward. Wishing them the best of luck.
Highly recommend everyone give it a try. A fantastic addition to the area!
A fantastic addition to the shops already there
