Marshall emphatically answers the question of “Where is the MEAT?” And, so well cooked. (They had their BBQ grill going in their front yard. Hot on the spot.) This place is one of the most “Down Home” joints I’ve eaten in many moons. Their best efforts are in the food, which is really appreciated.
I stopped for lunch at 1pm, and most of the orders were take-out from the working folks in the area. That tells you most of what you need to know. They know which places are best.
The eat-in-area is as it would have been in 1960, but who cares when the food is top drawer? I had the best TriTip with BBQ beans and cole slaw. Superb.
If you are looking for the best BBQ in Ventura, I suspect this place is Top-3. I say that only because I have a few places yet to visit. I promise that you will LOVE the food here.

Really cute place. I’ve been a few times now and they’re always worth it. I feel like the garlic bread was a little better in years past, it was a bit dry today. But the tru tip and sauces are always fantastic.

I used to come here all the time with my dad and brothers when I was a teenager, I haven’t been back in ages but i remember it fondly. Next time I’m ever in town I will most definitely be making a stop! Glad to see y’all are still open. I hope that sauce recipe hasn’t changed much 🙂 best BBQ sauce ever!

The baby back ribs were moist and meaty. The 1/2 chicken was juicy and not too smokey. The barbque sauce original has got some bite try the honey sauce for a little sweeter. The sweet potato casserole was amazing as were the baked beans which had a light sweet smoke flavor. Portions were large. Prices were very reasonable. We will return.

Heard about this place from someone at my work and decided to give them a try. Went in during the whole dine outside only situation. The inside of the restaurant seems very nice and I wish I had been able to eat in there instead of outside. Staff was very friendly and accommodating specially after a messed up order. I thought the price Point was very fair for the amount of food you get. The atmosphere was just okay, we had to sit outside and there were flies which was not the restaurants fault but it is what it is.
The food was delicious, ribs and prime ribs were so different but both were equally delicious. I definitely recommend this place.

My husband and I just moved from the East Coast (DE) almost 3yrs ago. This place as soon as I walked in felt like I was home smelling the BBQ my family cooks! The Pulled Pork sandwich is so flavorful, and juicy. They put it on the side so the roll doesn’t get soggy, GENIUS!!

Visited for the first time and boy have I been missing out! The bbq meat is cooked to absolute perfection, the bread is delicious. We got the Mac and cheese and chilli for sides and both were delicious. If you arrive after 6pm you will be in for a long wait. They also tend to run out of ingredients, so get there before the dinner rush, especially for their amazing slaw. If you are searching for great BBQ, you have found your spot.
