Love SGD Korean restaurant! The tofu soup is flavorful and comforting, with just the right amount of spice. The beef short ribs are tender, juicy, and packed with flavor—definitely a must-try. Friendly service too. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We had heard so much about how popular this place is, so we made sure to arrive right when they opened to avoid the crowds. The service was incredibly fast, and our food came out in no time! Every dish we tried was delicious, but the Beef and Sausage 순두부찌개 (Soondubu Jjigae) was absolutely outstanding—it tasted so authentic and flavorful. Without a doubt, this is the best Korean food in Madison! On top of the amazing food, the service was also fantastic. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

I have eaten at SGD in State Street twice and can hardly wait to explore the rest on the menu. I had the soup, rice and veggies and the seafood pancake. First time for Korean food. OMG the flavor profiles and textures were delicious. A friend familiar with Korean food joined me and said the flavors were authentic. Please note this is not fast food and the portion sizes are more than you can eat in one setting. Be ready to take some home.

Visited during their soft opening and it was packed and lively. Waited for 10 minutes for a table and the service is very quick and attentive. I absolutely love that they serve hot tea for the table, and have great recommendations if you don’t know what to order. Food comes out fairly quick with sizzling plates, and it all tastes so great! We went with children and teens. They had us wait 15 minutes. It was packed and tight seating. We ordered the food and it came swiftly; considering it was so busy. The side dishes (banchan) were fresh and tasted great. The food was all good. We loved the beef short ribs bulgogi and pork belly bulgogi. Definitely worth it! Ramen was surprisingly good for how it looked.

Stopped by for lunch for two on a weekday and was able to get seated right away. We tried the beef bugogi, an app sampler, and bi bim bop. Wow. The food was delicious. We also sampled all the kimchi dish that came with lunch – over the top. Service was excellent. Cannot wait to come back again. Thanks for a lovely lunch!

2) there was a large stone in my soup that wasnt supposed to be there. I brought this up to the servers and managers but didn’t do much about it – just 1.80 “discount” instead of correcting the issue

Absolutely love SGD Dubu on State Street! The service is quick and friendly, and the food always comes out hot and fresh. They offer such a wide variety of banchan (side dishes) that we didn’t even need a refill—there was plenty to enjoy right from the start. The portions are generous, and everything is full of flavor.
Highly recommend the tofu jjigae—rich, comforting, and even better with the fresh raw egg on the side. The crispy gyoza is another standout—perfectly golden and packed with flavor. A great spot for hearty Korean food in Madison!

A group of friends and I came for their soft opening day today, and we were super impressed – with an intimate ambiance, extremely attentive service, reasonable prices, a wide selection of bonchon (side dishes) with free refills, and tasty Korean tofu dishes, this is significantly raising the bar for Korean food here in the city of Madison.
We highly recommend any of the Soondubu Jjigae dishes (their specialty!) as well as their tasty side dishes.
