We highly recommend the Tuna Otoro nigiri—it was absolutely to die for. We will definitely be returning to Kasumi very soon!
What was most concerning, however, was discovering an unauthorized overcharge on our credit card the next day. We tried multiple times to contact the restaurant to resolve the issue, but no one answered or returned our calls.
So here’s the thing. I’m vegan and was really excited when I saw there were things on the menu I could eat. I saw the big V by the shishito peppers and it is completely on me that I did not read the other ingredients and Google what they are. When it came out, I noticed something on top that I thought was possibly cheese. I thought I made a mistake and the person said it wasn’t cheese but I wasn’t familiar with what they said it was. It was fish. So it’s not even vegetarian. My amazing server made note of this and said they would bring it to the restaurant’s attention, and they remade it for me without any fish and it was delicious. But it is disappointing they have something marked as vegetarian or vegan that isn’t either.
Then, my phenomenal server Blake asked the kitchen if the avocado and cucumber roll were vegan for me. They insured him that they were. However, the avocado roll came out with some mayonnaise on it. Again, they remade it for me and it was very nice. But I hate to waste food and a kitchen should be informed about allergies and dietary restrictions. Dairy makes me very ill and if I had consumed any of the roll they told my server was vegan, I would have been very sick.
I don’t blame my server at all. He really was great at his job!
And with modifications, it’s nice that this location has some vegan options.
But the menu should not improperly label food and the kitchen should know the difference between vegetarian and vegan.
We loved the recommendations from our server, Patrick, for the Hamachi crudo and Black miso cod! The manager, Jill, was so welcoming. I will say the best part was ordering the Kinoko mochi and brussel sprouts because it was a beautiful reminder of Takashi’s menu at “Slurping Turtle” in Chicago. The yuzu cheesecake was the perfect closing to the meal as well.
Such a beautiful location, ambiance, and overall experience!
was very attentive. Definitely is a place to come back. Also the view of the sunset and the boats passing by make this place unique.
Shishito Peppers (dunked in the spicy mayo too of course) and Wagyu Beef Gyozas made the perfect appetizers and the Teriyaki Glazed Salmon, Short Rib Fried Rice and Chicken Kushi Katsu stole the show – I think those were the best renditions of these dishes I’ve ever had all for a Happy Hour price. Don’t miss the cocktails as well, which are also discounted; the Cherry Blossom Old Fashioned and Nashi Mule were expertly crafted, all made with fresh house made syrups and with unique twists. Although not part of Happy Hour, we treated ourselves to most delicious chocolate mousse and ganache dessert that I’m still drooling over. I will be definitely be back.
Our server Jennifer helped us with recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The atmosphere is upscale, but comfortable. This is the difference between going out for dinner and enjoying renowned chefs’ preparation of carefully thought out and excellently-prepared delicious items.
Hundred dollars of plates- and were enjoying the meal (savoring each bite) and laughing and immersed in dynamic conversations—
Food was incredible. Everything was served with impeccable presentation and the most unique flavors-
Highly recommend if you love tartare and sushi!
