Needed some food while our EV charged. Walked the short distance to this restaurant after seeing a 4.1 star average.
The decor was quirky and fun. The staff was attentive and very sweet. Bathrooms were clean.
We ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer and it stole the show. These were the best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever eaten at ANY restaurant. Highly recommended. (We added salt to our preference).
Everyone in our five person party left FULL. My three meat plate was delicious and unique (burger and sausage both came with grilled peppers and onions). The sides were PIPING hot as evidenced by the attached video. If our return trip takes requires a stop at the same exit, we’ll gladly return to this quaint but delicious restaurant.
Of note: they were setting up for live music around 4pm, so that’s something to be aware of.

I loved the atmosphere here, so many neat things hanging from the wall and ceiling. They have live music. The food, on the other hand, was blah. The roasted brussel sprouts were very dry, even the meaty part. They give you a dip to dip them in. Otherwise, they had no flavor, just tasted like char. The smoked sausage sandwich was over seasoned with season salt or something to that effect. I also had a raw piece of okra mixed in with my brussels.

After seeing a YouTube review of this place, I couldn’t wait to try it out. Supposedly, the ribs were the best around. I was really disappointed after trying them. The meat didn’t fall off the bone like he claimed & was actually kind of hard to remove. They were a little dry as well. They tasted ok & the bbq was alright, but hardly the best around. The mashed potatoes and gravy would have been great, except for the pepper they put in them. I can’t eat pepper. The fried apples were okay, but they tasted kind of old. I walked around the store after my meal, and although they had a lot of old antique stuff to look at, besides the assortment of candy, there really wasn’t a whole lot of unique gift items. It’s hard to believe this place has a 4 star rating. Maybe they used to be better, but now, I’d recommend going somewhere else.

Our first visit was a year ago and I loved how authentic it was. The food was good and the atmosphere made you very nostalgic. Antiques every where you looked, someone took a lot of time in this place and I loved it. We went back to take our kids yesterday and found out they had a fire a few months back, I was so sad for them. To have lost so many memories, my heart hurts for them. They ate rebuilding and are in a place behind the old one. The food is still just as good. The waitress wasn’t the best, she didn’t think to refill our drinks at all unless we asked. I look forward to going back again. I am going to share the pictures I took last year as I think its important to remember what they had.

We had the buffet-I thought most of the food was pretty good- not fantastic. The fried chicken and the potato casserole were my favorites. Didn’t enjoy the cornbread or catfish as much. The. Undeterred has a lot of variety and a nice salad bar. The stew was a little tasteless. The country was great. The staff were very friendly and offered a lot of free samples.

I was invited to play music on stage at Oliver’s Smokehouse by a new friend who I respect greatly. I had been active in music 15 years ago, but have been out of it for a while save for an open mic night every other week the last few months at a local bar in my home town. Let my just say the reception I felt couldn’t have been warmer. The crowd was attentive. The other musicians who weren’t there to play were supportive and before I finished playing the host made a point of announcing that I was an official member of the Smokehouse musicians family. I really feel like I fit in. ONE OF my very best friends drove down from Murfreesboro to attend the show and to my surprise they let him play with me. I should have figured he was already an official part of the Smokehouse musicians family. Boy, Toast gets around! At any rate thanks Randy Finchum, for the invite.
If you’re in Monteagle, TN, stop in at the Patio Smokehouse Grill. It’s tucked in behind The Smokehouse Lodge and Cabins. The food is absolutely smashing! They’re open Friday, Saturday and Sunday with live music all 3 nights.

Smoked Sausage was delicious, it comes with onions and peppers. It was the most juicy meat I’ve ever eaten. It was a little salty so I suggest to maybe ask to season it yourself if possible.
I also got the pulled pork. It was very tender. The bbq sauce it came with, while good, wasn’t much different than KC Masterpiece it might have even been that.
I got green beans and coleslaw. The green beans were again a little overly salty but tender and juicy. The coleslaw was bland but crisp and crunchy.
I finished my meal off with one of thier fried pies. I did forgo the offered ice cream but did get my pie warmed up. Not getting the ice cream was a mistake as it would have paired well with the soft yet crispy edged pie crust. The pie wasn’t overly sweet which was perfect and the apples inside were tender.
The service, while nice, my cup did go empty for a little longer than I’d like. I was also seated right away, but the server did miss my arrival and I went unattended for a bit.
The atmosphere has a rural yard sale vibe to it: Old bicycles out front as some of its decor and record covers and various oddities on the walls. It’s a little dark which adds to the comfy intimate vibe they are going for. On certain nights they do have live music but not the day I was there. The table I chose was a little sticky, not sure if it wasn’t cleaned well or just because it was a painted tabletop.

Opens at 6:30 am every day. Closes 9:30 pm Sunday -Thursday, 10:30 Friday & Saturday. The breakfast buffet is $8.95. I’m not a fan of scrambled eggs so they brought me out fried eggs for no extra charge. Good service with lots of sauces, jams, jellies, marinades that you can take home with you. And you can’t leave without stocking up on their handmade fudge. And for the dark chocolate lovers, don’t miss their dark chocolate fudge. Usually available Valentines day into March. The gift shop has an eclectic variety that puts Cracker Barrel a run for their money.
Sad to say that the restaurant burned to the ground earlier in 2021. Nothing left but rubble. That said, weather permitting, there’s still music and dancing outside behind the remains.
