If you read the reviews and most of them are bad, that’s because this place is bad. I should have read the reviews beforehand.
Food is terrible and very expensive for such small portions. Didn’t see one smile from any of the waiters but no problem, I will not be returning to this “restaurant.”
Ordered a #11 from the combination platter which consists of 1 taco 1 burrito and 1 enchilada. I was charged $14.99 even though the menu said $12.99. I guess maybe that was for the five 1/4 inch pieces of steak they put on a mini taco shell with no cilantro or cheese. Yes, they gave me enough food for a 2 yr old. Worst part about that combination was there was no rice and beans included and the burrito consisted of HAMBURGER ONLY!! I asked for rice and beans. He gave it to me but for another $4.50 Never in life have I seen a burrito in any Mexican restaurant look like this garbage.

What seasoning was used besides salt!? And plenty of it! This is horrible! And my gaucamole…am I suppose to smash it myself!? It’s just avocado slices and pico. NEVER AGAIN, I WANT MY MONEY BACK

In my opinion El Mezcal has the BEST cheese dip around. BUT the amount of chips you get is dwindling every time I order lately. You used to get too many chips even when ordering a large cheese dip. Tonight, ordering a small for the first time in a long time, it came with a sandwich size ziplock bag of chips. Not even enough to finish the small cheese dip. It’s pretty ridiculous that $8 gets you this… as much as I love the cheese dip and used to order it multiple times a week, I won’t be ordering anything until the prices reflect the quality and quantity it used to. I don’t mind prices rising, they are everywhere, but to gouge prices and lessen what you get for it is ridiculous. Not worth it anymore.

We ordered over the phone and when we arrived they had our order wrong. When we asked if we could get what actually ordered, they told me “No, you can either get this food or nothing.” I have never had such a poor experience with a food service worker and I will not be coming back to this location.

we tried many el mezcals but this is our favorite location’ keep up the good work guys. We will return again soon for more fresh guac and street tacos oh and our Sooie looks forward to his night out on the patio and all the many wonderful meet and great friendly Oakland customers he gets to say hello too!

I had to send my order back twice because the server didn’t understand what I asked for twice…the frozen margarita i ordered wasn’t frozen so they brought me another drink in place that was so nasty. Overall my service today was horrible i will never come back. After telling them the drink was horrible i never asked for a discount however i was still charged. No thank you never again
