We visited on a late Wednesday afternoon in June 2025. We got there around 4:30 and knew that last entry into the park was 5PM. We bought our tickets online for a discount and you can buy just up until the late minute I feel like. It’s not a huge savings but you’re paying a bunch already to visit here. You are allowed to stay in the park later but you have to get into the park first.
The visitor center itself was huge. You enter into a large atrium with bathrooms to your left and a water fountain. There is info desk in front of you. There are some exhibits in the lobby. If you walk straight there is a gift shop where we did purchase a bunch of stuff. Then to the right is a restaurant. They were looking like they were ready to close up when we visited and I don’t blame there. There wasn’t that may people actually in the visitor center at the time we visited. They had half the eating area roped off I’m guessing they already cleaned it and didn’t want to have to do it again. The staff were just hanging out behind the counter talking to each other. They looked like they had a full kitchen back there to make things to order. They had a bunch of drinks and snacks as well. Because we were in a hurry to get on the trail before 5PM we didn’t buy any food and therefore can’t really comment on the quality either.
The atmosphere seemed really nice. It was pretty clean and quiet and you had a bunch of large windows you can look outside while your eating. I don’t know if there was outdoor seating but there were large doors just wide open heading outside.
The food court was very nice for a state park and I think we would visit the park again if we were in the area. There were a couple of really cool places near by that we wanted to see but we had a tight schedule. Like the caves further south and the artist bluff further north. Sadly we were just passing through and didn’t have a full day here.

Food was horrible pizza was really bad and in order to service more customers they might have made food early and double or multiple fried potato chips chicken tenders. There was lot of salt in fried food. Nothing on children’s menu was edible.

This is one of the first places we visited back in the day when we started coming to visit the White Mountains. You get tired and hungry more often than usual when you are traveling, hiking, and exploring. The Flume building itself is beautiful and full of fascinating historical items that put you in the mood to appreciate the terrain. But hunger calls and so you find yourself at this modest cafe. I remember feeling so happy to see Starbucks coffee (not sure if they still serve that brand). My kids wanted all the sweets. Husband downed a burger. We were relieved and grateful to have something to eat and drink, which we did before ever seeing the amazing trail here. It might not be a planned destination meal choice but it certainly feeds a lot of mountain goers who didn’t realize how hungry they would be up in the woods. Nowadays I tend to pack a cooler. But I’d still be happy to visit this cafe when I’m at the Flume or a nearby trail head.

Prices are jacked up because you’re coming down the hike. 6.00 for a Sbux double shot, 3.75 for a Pepsi, charged for packets of ranch. Food was subpar and I couldn’t finish my dish. Tyson boneless wings and oreida fries shouldn’t cost 9.95.
