As an Indonesian, I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately it was a major let down. The flavors were definitely not authentic and it seemed that everything was premade and rewarmed in a microwave. The beef sate was very chewy and overly sweet (too much sweet soy), the chicken sate was okay at best though the peanut sauce was thin, flavorless, and had zero spice. The pork sate was the best by far but still wasn’t hitting that true sate flavor. The bakso was very sad and lacked any kind of flavor, no matter how much sambal we added. And the rendang… Oh, how disappointing THAT was. It didn’t taste anything like rendang. I’m actually so thankful there was only one portion left because we came to order 3. All of that for nearly $90 for lunch. If you’re accustomed to authentic Indonesian flavors, this one is a pass. Twin Panda on Parmer is a much better Indonesian experience. I hate having to leave a review like this, but we literally left so much food behind because we just couldn’t eat it.

Insanely delicious food. So good we came two nights in a row. Beware, if you come once you’ll want to come often and try everything on the menu!!! Having good, authentic options besides chains is so important. This restaurant should be on Triple D.

Me and my girlfriend were very excited to find Indonesian food here. She is from Indonesia, I have been many times. We ordered Bakso, Sate Ayam, Cendol, and Lupis. Here is our pros and cons.
PROS:
– Sate was decent.
– Peanut sauce was decent
– Atmosphere was cute
– Sambal was good
– Pickles were good
– Crackers were good
– The coconut on top of the lupis was good
CONS
– Bakso was flavourless. Like, I had zero taste in mine at all. Even as an American I feel like I could find more taste in a can of soup.
– Cendol was way too sweet. Also the texture wasn’t good.
– The lupis texture was not good at all.
I don’t think we will be coming back, I really want this place to succeed because I’d love to see them make changes and be more authentic. But until then, it’s a pass for me. It just didn’t have enough flavour.
Also, I thought it was odd that the workers wore AirPods and didn’t clean the tables when we came in. I had to put away strangers plates so we could sit at a table. And one of the workers had AirPods in the whole time. They were nice but just kinda unprofessional.

Soooo, I’ll start by saying this. The food is very good. Very delicious. My one problem is the portion of the food is slightly medium size. Example, you probably need to buy two plates, but end up leaving at lease 3 scoops left to finish the second plate. If that make sense lol. The place is amazing and small. I just hope more people start going there more then that nasty Chipotle place next to it where I keep getting bad experiences( which I stop going by the way). Sate Texas is very good and deserves to get the customers it deserves. Thank you for good food and great customer. Also, the chef wears gloves when making the food. Thats when you know it made with heart and passion. Please keep that up. Love

This is a very small Indonesian restaurant which caught our eye as we were driving to go shopping. The menu is limited, we had to wait a while for the food to be served even though there was no one else in the restaurant. The food was okay; I won’t be coming back because there are plenty other places to try.

We had a great experience at Sate Texas. The food was really good and full of flavor. We ordered the chicken skewer, pork skewer, and tempeh skewer, and everything was amazing. The house-made sauce had a really nice kick to it and brought everything together perfectly.
The food did take a little time to come out, but it was well worth the wait. We went with our daughter and were happy to find they had a high chair available, which made things so much easier. Parking was also super convenient with spots available right in front of the restaurant. We’ll definitely be going back.

The food was fresh and tasty. The meat was seasoned well and was tender. I ordered chicken and yellow rice. The red sauce gave me the spice I was looking for. I just never like sharing table condiments. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I can see myself dining here again.

Just happened to be in the area and popped in for a quick dinner. Had the chicken sate plate and it was delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. The peanut sauce was not too oily. And the owner himself greeted us at the payment counter. A very pleasant experience

No offense, but as an Indonesian, I was a bit disappointed with the taste of the food at this restaurant. I’ve tried what’s been called the best satay, nasi kremes, and more—but personally, the flavors didn’t meet my expectations. That said, this is just my opinion—others might really enjoy it. Give it a try and decide for yourself whether it’s a one-time visit or a place you’d come back to.

Just enjoyed a delicious Indonesian lunch here with a girlfriend and we were in awe of the flavors, portions, and friendly service. We ordered the mie bakso (meatball noodle soup), ketoprak (fried tofu + fish cake), ayam bakar (chargrilled chicken…dark meat!), sate babi (chargrilled pork skewers) and topped with cendol dessert! They grill to perfection here with a nice caramelized finish! Marinades on the skewers were my favorite kind of savory and sweet! I ordered extra to go for my family to try it too! So happy we stumbled into this gem!
