Now I dont remember what the name of the drink I had was called but it was highly recommended by the waiter and it was pretty good. I can be a tad picky with my drinks but it wasnt too strong or too sweet.
Overall I had a great experience here and will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu. If you’re in Norman check this place out. The staff are very welcoming and give good recommendations on food and drinks.
I ordered the birria tacos and chicken quesadilla.
The tacos were decent however there was little to no cheese in them at all and it lacked seasoning. By the time I got my tacos they were already falling apart. The consome was straight oil. Tried to taste the broth itself and realized it’s a bowl full of oily broth with little taste.
The chicken quesadilla had little to no cheese as well and the chicken had some flavor but lacked salt. Chicken was juicy but made the tortilla soggy.
Salsa was ok. Lacked salt and lime.
Overall I’m not sure if I would try this again, if I did I would have to do it in person. The food seriously lacked seasoning and why was there way more meat than cheese! I ordered 2 things that should have been pretty cheesy and I had to literally pull the food apart to see if cheese was included at all just to find the tiniest specks of melted cheese.
We’ve revisited 1942 on many occasions.. Each visit has been as epic as the first..
I am adding additional pics of various menu items as we encounter them.. New additions include:
Ceviche, Pollo Blanco, Red Tacos, and the Top Shelf Margarita with 1800 Reposado Tequila..
Everything continues to be absolutely decadent!!

Holy Cow!!
1942 Tacos & Tequila may have just become my wife’s and my favorite Mexican fare eatery in the Norman area..
We made our first visit (of many to come) on Sunday after church after having passed by it a day or two earlier!!
Everything (service, food, menu offerings, atmosphere, etc) was absolutely fantastic!!
My wife sampled the lunch portion chicken fajitas, and I had the street tacos (2x pastor and 2x carne asada).. We also ordered queso blanco with our chips!!
Everything came out to the table relatively quickly and was as fresh as it could have been!! The fajita chicken was wonderfully seasoned, and the grilled vegetables were cooked perfectly..
My street tacos were deelish, the pastor had small bits of pineapple, and the accompanying salsa was a wonderful addition..
Our rice and charro beans were among the best we’ve experienced at any Mexican fare eatery, so those were delightful, too..
Even the chips and salsa were on point!! We’re looking forward to returning and sampling the vast margarita offerings on future visits!!
10 out of 10 recommend, and we’ll be back very, very soon!!
The lunch menu is a great deal and the service was great too! So happy I decided to make this the place we went to for my birthday lunch. The Popeye Enchiladas were terrific and my husband and son loved their lunch combos!
So glad to have 1942 in Norman!
