I’ve been here months before and had to wait in a long line but this time, it wasn’t too bad. They only allow a few people inside at a time, as it is a small place. So you’ll have to stand outside and wait until your turn. There is a small ledge of window seating inside but it can feel cramp with other guests inside. It’s probably easier to take it outside where there’s three standing tables.

The service is always friendly and the orders are completed in a timely manner. So even if the line is super long, it doesn’t take long for the food. The menu is on a vestaboard and changes accordingly to what’s available for the day.

It’s well-priced and is pretty filling with the amount given. The plates not only come with your poke selections but also rice topped with furikake, crab salad, seaweed salad, and a scoop of spicy tuna. I tried a few different flavors of poke and they were all quite tasty. It’ll definitely one of my go-to poke places!

We opted for the plate with shrimp tempura. I usually get the salmon and ahi limu. I have never been disappointed with an order. Everything tastes fresh and is worth the price. Y’all need to go early or expect to wait in line. There’s limited seating and parking but the line moves quick! The service is great my top poke spot in SD when I’m craving it.

Met a good friend here. They only have street parking. When I arrived, they havent even opened yet and there was already a line. I had the Spicy mayo tuna and Spicy 808. They have limited seating inside. People mostly eat outside standing up. The poke was very delicious and very fresh. The rice i came with was also delicious. I can see why this place is so popular

First time having poke and it was fantastic. Great service helping to explain the menu to my group and the portions and flavors were amazing. Also chatted with the owner and he was very friendly.

MUST-TRY even if you’re not a poke fan.

Best tasting and freshest poke place in Southbay, so far. My daughter had told me about this place months ago. I finally got to see and taste what the hype was all about. She treated me out yesterday and I am now a believer. Hands down! Fresh and delicious seafood all the way. 8th & B Poke adds plenty of good to National City’s restaurant selection. Wish we had this place closer to the border, where I live.

We ordered 3 dishes: 1) furikake, garlic tuna, citrus salmon 2) scallops, citrus salmon and garlic salmon 3) citrus salmon and garlic salmon

The only downside: parking and line. You will need to be at 8th & Poke way before 11am because food will only last a certain amount of hours. As their sign on door states, “until sold out.” This is not the place where they have back up stock to make more. There will be a line outside and only three at a time inside when placing your order.

When we finally got inside, our order was placed and food was ready to go in no time. We sat on the only stools facing the window and finished our food there. There were tables outside and no chairs, for customer use.

Highly recommend

The hype is real folks!!! This place is boooomb. The poke is the best I’ve ever had. Get here before they open because a line definitely forms. I felt like I was in line to buy sneakers. Really friendly and helpful service. The seafood bake (they only do on Friday and the weekend) is amazing. Small dining area but if you’re solo or a two-fer, it’s definitely doable. A true San Diego gem!

The poke was super fresh and really flavorful. Loved that they give you sides along with the rice to add a little variety to your plate. Definitely going to add shrimp tempura each time as well as that was the cherry on top for my plate. Will be back and still recommending to more friends I talk to.

It is a small shop, not really any place to sit, if you sat at the high top inside it felt like I was taking up space for the line of people. There is a table outside but seemed to be occupied by a group of people not eating so I took my food to go. This was actually my first stop back in San Diego for a few weeks. It was very sweet, good, but not as I had expected. Limited choices and really wanted an actual poke bowl with a lot of ingredients. They didn’t have all the normal poke Hawaiian choices…. I had just spent a week in hawaii at the end of February. So my expectations were high I guess…. Everyone was nice and seems to be a popular spot for the 20s crowd.

8Th & B Poke has been a shop that’s been appearing in my feed for quite some time and I finally decided to give it a shot on a busy Sunday. There were about 8 people in line all waiting to order so the hype was building up my expectations.

Being our first time and the store being relatively new, I would’ve appreciated a little more conversation and insight from the cashier as to what made this poke shop stand out and I didn’t really feel that excitement coming from them. Another worker Soleil was attentive and caring for the rest of our time dining in.

My partner and I got lucky with finding two seats out of the 5 available in door to enjoy our meal, other seating including standing outside underneath a tarp on a metal table.

The poke was absolutely delicious and would be the sole reason for returning. Every single flavor we had was vivid and tasted delicious on the palate. The poke “bowl” on the other hand was another story; the rice felt crusty and old, imitation crab was dry and flaky, the spicy crab bowl and seaweed salad were some positive flavors and tastes. I prefer my rice in poke bowls to be a bit softer to blend with the smoothness of the fish, I feel the hard rice got in the way of the textures of the bowl; though that’s just a personal preference so I’m not docking any points for that.

Overall I will probably return in the near future and just hope service is a bit better and that my comments on the “bowl” part of the poke is taken into consideration. As it is a newer business I would love to see them improve and be very successful!
