So I alway’s research places to eat and I am so glad I found this HIDDEN JEM!!!!
Maddie was our server and what a delightful young lady she was over immediately taking our drink orders.
For dinner I had to try the Italian Beef especially after watching The TV show The Bear and we ordered the famous Deep dish pizza.
Maddie brought over the homemade Girardeau which if you love spicy you will love it for me I can’t eat spicy thing’s.
Then dinner was served that Italian Beef sandwich was beyond PHENOMENAL and the DEEP DISH PIZZA it was the best pizza we have EVER HAD!!!!
You can tell the dough is homemade the sauce was like no other sauce I have eaten it was so fresh tasting.
The place doesn’t look like much but TRUST ME if you live a hour away your gonna have to eat here.
Victoria the Bartender said the OWNER was there making the food and anytime you have the Owner cooking you know love ❤️ goes into the food he make’s and serves.
Hand’s down this Restaurant deserves more than 5 stars it should get Restaurant of the YEAR because I GUARANTEE YOU WILL NEVER EAT A DEEP DISH PIZZA OR ITALIAN BEEF ANY BETTER THAN FROM HERE!!

Pulled over to take a chance on this hole in the wall shack/dive bar. Driving through Illinois going cross country we didn’t wanna stop in Chicago but really wanted to get pizza. Our route lead us to here and it’s great pizza!!

Pretty decent pizza place in small town Troy Grove, but very easy to get to. Seat yourself when you enter. Water served in bottles at no extra cost when we went. Ordered bubba bites which weren’t exactly bite size but it was fine. It’s like rolled pizza dough with cheese filling which was good and comes with pizza sauce. They do offer parmesan cheese, pepper flakes, and giardenira with the food. The giardenira isn’t too spicy, about mild to medium, 3.5/10 spice but it’s great on the bites and pizza.
Pizza was pretty good as the sauce isn’t overly sweet like others in the Illinois Valley area which is a turn off. Ordered pepperoni and garlic and LIGHT CHEESE. The pizza was pretty good. The bottom was cooked well but I think there was still a bit too much cheese to allow the crust the cook all the way through but was still good. You could take a fork to the bottom and could hear it was scratchy and not soft but you could see the dough once you got into the middle wasn’t 100% cooked.
I personally think it could use a little bit less cheese so that it cooks better and it would still be a great pizza. I also prefer some pepperoni on the very top of the pizza to get those crispy pepperoni pieces, but others may not.
Still a good pizza regardless of those issues.

It’s the perfect little, local dive bar. Kitchen has pizza, Italian beef sandwiches, hand cut fries, and typical fried pub fare.

Please! Do not be surprised by the exterior. Mike’s has a bit of a dive bar exterior (something that is actually a “positive” to me). They only do this because they don’t have the staff to deal with all of the people who would flock here if they weren’t deceived by appearances!
We started with the Bubba Bites for our appetizer. They were not at all what I expected. I was imagining little pieces of breaded cheese balls, or something similar. Nope. Big pieces of delicious bread with an enormous amount of (delicious) cheese. WOW.
I feel like by the time we got to the pizza (which makes big claims, like “famous”), Mike was just showing off. I can NOT think of a better pizza that I’ve ever had.
On top of it all, Victoria was the friendliest hostess one could hope for. Anytime I’m in the area, I’ll be looking for the flimsiest of excuses to stop back in.
Do yourself a favor. Stop in. Try the pizza. It’s pretty alright.

First time here……awesome experience. Pizza was delicious!!!! Fresh ingredients. Perfect amount of cheese. The lady that was waiting on us was awesome as well. Didn’t have to flag her down to get drinks. Love how she asked if we wanted any appetizers, and mentioned a few before I even had a chance to look at the menu. If she hadn’t I probably would not have gotten any.

We ordered a large sausage and garlic pizza and also Bubba Bites. Pizza crust was very good, sausage was delicious, service was good. The only recommendation I have is reduce the amount of cheese on the pizza and butes; there was so much cheese that once the pizza started to cool it was nauseating to bite in to the food.
