We had a large sampling of their BBQ skewers (mostly $3.50 to $5) — the others’ favorites were lamb, sausage, beef, chicken skin, chicken feet and beef marrow bones. However the favorite of mine was the zesty pork shoulder below. It shared the similar “shaokao” seasoning (cumin and Sichuan pepper) but had the tender fat portions that made it wonderful.
The service from the one waitress was quite good, she was pleasant and patiently allowed us to inquire about the a la carte process. The Chinese students were also helpful and answered some of our group’s questions on what Chinese beer was best for the barbecue. Overall, an experience that any group would enjoy late night.
The food was interesting, we tried the hotpot with chicken and oysters, some skewers, enoki mushroom, pig feet. Everything was pretty good, imo the flavors can be stronger.
1️⃣The phone number on Google couldn’t be reached for reservation.
2️⃣Many tables were empty when we arrived, yet we were told everything was reserved and had to wait.
3️⃣We were seated at the cold entrance and only allowed to move after insisting.
4️⃣When a table inside became available, we were told we couldn’t switch because it was “reserved for six people,” even though other tables were empty.
5️⃣Portions were noticeably small , for example, a $22 salted egg yolk chicken wing dish had fewer than 8 wings.
6️⃣Halfway through our meal, staff still insisted we could not move even when other walk-in guests were seated.
7️⃣We didn’t even get water until 80% of the food arrived and we asked.
Food flavor is acceptable, but the service attitude, table management, and portion size do not justify a return visit. Would not recommend.
I have tried several dishes. Highly recommend their pork feet, eggplant, grilled fish, and lamb skewers. The eggplant and fish really impress me. The baked cheese corn is a little too sweet for me. The fried rice and ramen taste a little bland but they are perfectly matched with salty bbq skewers. Free rice is provided with hot pot entrees. The dining room is a little small, so it could take a long time to wait during dinner time.
Also- while eating, there were a handful of take out orders. So if you can’t stop by, make sure to order some take out!
