Great food and service. Quick and high quality. Tzatziki was amazing as were the lentils and carmelized onions, so good.
Dining area and restrooms are clean and appealing just simple.

We just happen to be downtown and looking up good Mediterranean restaurants and found this! When you walk in, you can place your order which is very convenient. I had the Mediterranean salad with gyro meat. We split the falafel which was amazing, and a kafta wrap. The salad had a lot of fresh herbs on it, which I really like. The wrap was
very tasty, although a bit dry, as well as the gyro meat. They make their baklava in house which they were out of when we came in, but maybe another time. Parking is a bit of a pain because it’s downtown. Good place to check out!

I have enjoyed everything I’ve ever ordered here.
I’m a huge fan of their falafel in particular.
There are also rotating specials and soups.

This is a great, healthy option for lunch if you are downtown.

Great food, friendly staff! I stopped in for lunch, and I’m happy I found this place. The food was amazing and fresh. The staff is friendly, and the food came out fast. The Mediterranean salad was huge and packed with all the best toppings. I especially enjoyed the humus. Next time I’m in Greensboro for lunch, I’ll be back.

Zaytoon Mediterranean Grill is located on N. Elm Street in historic downtown Greensboro. And if you hear the word downtown….parking spot is the first thing which comes to mind. This is no different and I was super lucky to find a spot right outside the building. However, there are several options available with a few minutes walk.
Zaytoon is located inside a building with several other restaurants as neighbors. I was immediately greeted “I think” by the owner and her energy was just contagious. When you walk in, you place the order and will be given a ticket. You can seat yourself anywhere and wait for your number to be called. It has 2 levels and of course I picked the second floor especially since it was empty. Ordered the chicken shawarma and as much as it was good….I wasn’t blown away. The chicken was a little dry. The pita chips were a tiny portion however the hummus was delicious. It definitely tasted freshly made rather than just out of a jar. Also, I ordered bottled water and later realized they already had water with cups which I could have just filled up myself.
They do focus on the quality of food and claim using celtic sea salt in the kitchen. This concept of healthy Mediterranean cuisine was founded 20 years ago and it is a must visit if you happen to be in downtown.

They do not give receipts here, the server mistook my order when I ordered just a simple wrap combo and then already rung me up for a full plate. They told me they would cancel out my first order and re-rung me again for the second order. The person at the stand seemed to be strung out on something and nervous, they seemed to be working their first day there. Turns out the person who told me would cancel my first order didn’t! I just checked my credit card statement and was double charged instead. Once for their first mistake, then second for when they re rung the order the second time!! I was told they would cancel out that charge but I was never given receipts, only order tickets with no charge amounts on them!! I will no longer come back to this place for service, the food was not worth getting charged TWO TIMES OVER FOR!!! By the way, I just tried to call their number and it went straight to an answering machine instead.
NOTE: This is from four years ago, the owner deleted their original reply and reposted a new reply just now. They wanted to make it appear as though they were “delayed” 4 years!!! And they’re trying to get this review deleted on grounds of “hate”??? What hate??? I was simply revealing deceptive practices being done here for transparency. The review does not hold slander since I stated “seemed” and not an outright statement. Such deceptive practices since they were already caught in deceptive practices prior. Wow, the management really must have had a lot of free time during the holidays to try to bury this one. By the way, did you really even read the original review? I tried to call you to resolve the issue the first time before leaving this review but no one ever answered the call after multiple attempts. Again, I asked your staff for a receipt the first time. If I recall correctly, I am fairly certain most establishments can even provide proof of cancellation. I have seen it done before on other occasions.
How else would you expect someone else to respond? I was told it the first charge was cancelled and it was NOT. Then I proceeded to call your establishment and there was no one to resolve said issue! Do you expect people to be automatons??? How convenient your initial reply was “deleted” when it used the excuse that you were trying to go “green” in not giving out reciepts. Which excuse is it? For laziness of handing out receipts or from going “green”? I expect paper receipts but hey, I guess I just hate trees too much, sue me…. Kinda odd how your scrubbing over 4 year old reviews and not just accept to take responsibility???

Happy New Year, prayers for you to take honest criticism and study what opinions are instead of “hate”

I think, this place serves excellent Middle Eastern food. The food is so fresh. It is bad that it closes at 3 pm and it is not open on weekends, so I only have a very little chance to go, unfortunately. However, this place must be very popular for people who are working in the downtown area. (That is why they don’t need to open for long hours???)

The staff were super helpful in explaining what each dish contained. The food (which was heavenly) came in large portions yet was super affordable ($12 per person).

They were even courteous enough to make a custom order for us! Zaytoon is definitely worth a try if you’re in Greensboro.
