The sets are huge and will fill you up – but there’s no satisfaction to eating it. There is no love or passion in the meal, only presentation with no effort on how to elevate the individual ingredients. The cauliflower I got to start was so under seasoned it could have been served raw, and the black sauce was no help either. It looked cool – but gave nothing. The avocado was best.
The food was delicious and fresh with a burst of flavour with every mouthful.
All in all a 5 star experience.
If I had to pick at anything. I would say that the music was a bit too loud. But overall it was a great dining experience.
6:30pm Saturday, no reservation.
P.S. The pictures don’t look the best because I looked forward to eating it! Apologies!
The menu is a masterpiece of both presentation and flavour. We started with the miso soup , which was so fresh and warmed you up.
The real stars of the show, however, are the grilled sticks (yakitori) and the sushi. The beef tenderloin skewers were cooked to perfection, and the miso-marinated black cod is arguably one of the best dishes I’ve ever had – flaky, buttery, and incredibly flavourful. The sushi rolls are creative, beautifully constructed, and use incredibly high-quality fish.
What truly elevated the experience was the service. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. They offered fantastic recommendations and ensured our glasses were never empty.
While it’s certainly a premium dining experience, you absolutely get what you pay for: exceptional quality, generous portions, and impeccable service. Sticks’n’Sushi has set a new benchmark for sushi in Oxford. I cannot recommend it highly enough and am already counting down the days until my next visit
