What a nice southern style, family owned restaurant. The atmosphere was so pleasant. Service was great and price was good. I attempted to try every dish but it was too much and the place was getting full quickly. We got there right before the rush, around 6pm.
My favorite dishes: corn casserole, ribs, sweet potato casserole, mack and ch with stewed , meatloaf, mash potatoes with gravy, green beans, collard greens (I don’t eat collard greens, they were good).
Dessert: ice cream, pie, pudding, fruit,

Soup: both were good. The sausage and beans was a bit salty for my taste.
Salad bar: had many toppings and dressing options. The apple salad was interesting.
I definition recommend this place. I was very pleased with the options and the food was soo tasty.

Everything was good and well presented. A little salt and pepper didn’t hurt to add but loved the down home touch of food options. Food options such as pot roast, beans, rutabaga, or cabbage offered in a buffet which I love about Fred’s .
Everyone can enjoy something here. Seating is arranged for many big groups or families or just a solo outing. Customer service was attentive and nice.

One of the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given!! Food absolutely delicious…fried chicken, ribs, cole slaw, mac n cheese, fish, corn bread, etc. were all great. I’m not even so much of a fan of black eyed peas, but happily went for seconds!!! Quality food done very nicely. Service great as well. Love that there’s an alternative to fast food or bland franchise restaurants. Thanks for a great meal everyone!!

WOW! I love me some Fred’s Restaurant! A wonderful buffet either all kinds of good old-fashioned comfort food like fried chicken, meat loaf, fried catfish, etc. A huge salad bar and desert station is there too. I highly recommend Fred’s!

The ribs were good and juicy, and the chicken was seasoned well. My wife really liked the sweet potatoes and the bread too. However, the setup needs some work — the buffet area was way too crowded, with no clear line or organization. People were cutting in and the food trays were often empty whenever I went up. The waitress also wasn’t very attentive; I had to ask for refills several times. Overall, the food was solid, but the service and buffet setup definitely need improvement.
*** Tried it a 2nd time this time I did catering. Had to lose a star over the quality. I don’t even think they use the same seasoning from the buffet food and everything was bland. It was a decent amount for $100 but I won’t be finishing it.

I really enjoy fried chicken. While it had good flavor, it was rubbery and served lukewarm. The vegetables—okra, black-eyed peas, cabbage, mashed potatoes with gravy, Italian green beans, and the roll—were outstanding. I went to Fred’s specifically for the fried chicken but found it disappointing in temperature and texture. The waitress provided excellent service. Pecan pie rated 1 star, but the strawberry shortcake was fantastic and rated 4 of 5 stars.

First time here but we are already planning our next trip out. Very cozy local place, great selection of southern dishes, awesome bbq ribs came from Johnson BBQ “smoking since 1954” no wonder it was delicious. Great fried chicken as well, plus the sweet potato casserole is to die for—great pairing with vanilla ice cream… and more to choose from.. Everything tasted homemade!
Plus, a nice variety of salad and desserts… Absolutely satisfied our cravings for southern home cooking—DONE RIGHT!

The BEST country cooking around! My husband and I drive an hour each way because it is so good. The service is always excellent as well. Sweet tea, fried green tomatoes and peach cobbler…simple the best.
