LA Brisket in the LA Brisket food court definitely knows how to pull you in. The free samples are generous and hard to walk past, especially when the brisket is hot and smells that good. It is a smart move because once you taste it, you are already halfway to ordering.
The food itself is solid and flavorful, especially if you are craving something smoky and hearty in the middle of a shopping trip. Portions are decent and it feels like comfort food in a mall setting.
The downside is the price. It runs on the higher side for food court dining, and you definitely feel it at checkout. It is one of those places where the sample tastes free but the plate does not.
Overall LA Brisket delivers good flavor and satisfying bites, but be ready for the higher price tag. Great if you are craving brisket, just do not expect food court level pricing.

Update: so I returned for more beef briskets, unfortunately it was out of red coleslaw and replaced with some random arugula leaves with no dressing or sauce. When I opened the box, I was like wadda?!? It was just a few very lonely leaves next to my tasty briskets. I was disappointed as I was looking forward to its special coleslaw. I can see why it’s only getting an average of 3.8 stars from the reviewers here, despite of its tasty briskets. It was just a sign that staff here basically didn’t really care about their jobs. Quite unfortunate. Because of the briskets, I kept my 4* rating despite of lack of care from the staff. I can’t believe I actually tipped the staff. I need to learn to stop doing that if I noticed that the staff didn’t care about their jobs.
Located inside of Ala Moana shopping center’s food court. We ordered the $25 Honolulu Special that consisted of beef, pork, chicken with lots of rice and a side. We chose the red cabbage Coleslaw. The beef was superb and I’ve eaten briskets in Texas many times, this was better. The pork was excellent as well, very tasty and fatty. The chicken on the other hand was not so good. It was dry and no flavor (except for the Smokey taste). The Coleslaw was good as well. The service was okay, but the lady who took my order seemed totally hated her job. I went back to see prior reviews and learnt that the reason this place had a low rating was due to its staff’s lack of caring for their jobs. Everyone seemed to like the food, but the staff left reviewers with a “bad taste” in the mouth, sort of speak.

Decent!
Portions were bigger than I expected, and given the price of beef these days, I was not disappointed.
My beef sandwich (405) was great, but it said it came with bleu cheese and it appears they put some kind of sliced cheese on it instead. It was still good though!
However, I didn’t care for the mac n’ cheese. It was too watery, not thick and creamy enough. Kinda flavorless too. Otherwise this would have been five stars.

Brisket sample hooked us! Great brisket bowl with steamed garlic rice and Waffle fries and that’s coming from some in San Antonio, TX for 9 years. The Mac & cheese sauce didn’t stick as expected (saw in a previous review), but still good. Mahalo!

Good food/portions and really friendly staff! My wife and I ended up getting the Brisket bowl, the Honolulu bowl, and an Elote. We really enjoyed the brisket as it was very moist and flavorful, the Pulled Pork was pretty average and the smoked chicken we could have gone without. The Elote was pretty classic for LA style and had good flavor. We will definitely come back when we’re in need of more brisket!!

Great brisket, the free samples got me. The young adults working there were fun, pleasant, and professional. They answered any questions I had & was pleasantly surprised by the coleslaw & cheesy macaroni sides. Will definitely visit again. Mahalo guys!

Really good meats from a chef that was an apprentice to Gordon Ramsey based in LA (or so I’m told)! For mall, this is comparable to sit down restaurants in terms of quality and taste of food. The people are also really nice. Give them a try!

I ordered the BBB burger, Beef, Bun & Barbecue sauce. I wanted to try their beef but there wasn’t much sauce so the burger was actually pretty dry. The beef was ok but not spectacular.

The brisket was amazing and the garlic rice was good but as far as the potato salad, it was hard, mac salad had absolutely no taste as well as the carrot and mushroom side.
The workers don’t seem to enjoy their job and it was hard getting them to explain what the options were and how to order, very confusing not to mention pretty pricey.
If I do go back again, it will just be for the brisket, maybe a sandwich.
