Kind of disappointed with its food after hearing how great it was especially after an hour wait standing outside of the restaurant. By the way, the low score was not due to the long wait as the food just wasn’t that good, though it wasn’t terrible either. The cheeseburger was fine, but certainly not close to being the best on the island. The saimin was salty and not all that good. It’s not a bad place, but it’s not a place you want to keep coming back for more or wait an hour for a burger.

Love this place! Delicious food, generous portions and reasonable prices. Friendly service and the food always comes out fresh and hot. I had the wonton mein and it was delicious, extra hot mustard for an extra kick. Sides are excellent as well!

Worth the drive and parking challenges. Shige’s has consistently good food and friendly service. My personal recommendation is a small sainin and a BBQ Burger (it’s teriyaki style sauce, not mainland style). The handmade burger patty has a nice char on the edges and they use soft buns. The saimin is always good too.
Parking can be a bit of a challenge though.

Came on a Wednesday morning and there were so many people. I put my name on a waiting list and waited for about 30 minutes. Place was full locals and tourists. Back then there weren’t many people and I could just walk in and sit at the counter. Now the counter is closed due to various boxes that was used for storage. It was quite upsetting. When I finally got my seat I was able to place my order immediately. A wonton min and a cheeseburger with a coke zero. I overheard one of the servers tell another table that their credit card machine was broken and they only took cash. I was upset because that’s something you want customers to know when they’re waiting outside in the sun for 30 minutes. I asked another server to confirm, so I had to walk about 10 minutes to go across the street to withdraw cash. That lack of communication is so inconvenient and can cause customers to not be able to pay. By the time I got back, my food was already sitting there. It got a little cold, but I was already upset with having to walk to an Atm so I just ate. The food was decent. You can tell the noodles were hand made compared to other restaurants. Chewy. Broth has a light shrimp flavor that tasted like other saimin on island. The burger was okay, but tasted similar to others I’ve tried. It reminds me of Japanese hamburger steak which is a mix of beef, pork, and panko bread crumbs. Overall, decent meal but not worth a 30 minute wait outside and a walk to a gas station ATM. On a different note, some of the customers here can be very inconsiderate. There is a long line of people outside wanting to grab a meal. I see a couple of elderly people talking for what felt like over an hour and they already paid for their meal. I see another couple who already paid and are just lounging while on their phone. So disrespectful when this is supposed to be a respectful local restaurant.

Food was delicious! It also came out fast. The servers were extremely polite as well! The burger absolutely deserves its high praise as the best in America! Haven’t had a better burger. The Saimin noodles were amazing, I’ve never had them before and they did not disappoint. Lastly, the price was incredible reasonable! I highly recommend trying this place!

Shige’s Saimin Stand in Wahiawa is always on my “must stop” list whenever I come home to Hawaii. This visit was no different – grabbed their teri beef burger, double cheeseburger, saimin, and won ton min, and it hit all the right notes of nostalgia.
There’s something about their saimin that just takes me back – that authentic homemade broth and perfect noodles that reminds me of small kid time. The won ton min was just as ono as I remembered. And the burgers? That teri beef burger with the perfect glaze and their juicy double cheeseburger are exactly what island-style burgers should be.
What makes Shige’s special is how they’ve kept everything the same over the years – no fancy changes, just good honest local food done right.
For anyone who appreciates real local grinds without the frills, Shige’s remains the absolute best in Hawaii. Always worth the stop in Wahiawa – guarantee you’ll leave satisfied and already planning your next visit!

Just voted the best hamburger according to yelp reviews and the family enjoyed it. Their udon was simple but delicious. The width seems about the same as an udon noodle but not as think. This thinner udon works well with the broth. Not your typical saimin noodle as it looks to be half the width of their udon noodle, but still very tasty.
They were super busy because they were just recognized as having the best cheeseburger in the country yesterday by Yelp Elite reviewers, but the staff worked really hard and provided excellent customer service. I will be back…and am thinking I’ll try their curry udon next!

The saimin soup here is the star of the show, while the burger is a tasty, simple burger though totally not the best in America. But the homemade saimin noodles are incredible, and if the udon noodles weren’t sold out, I bet those would be, too. We ended up getting two bowls of the soup that, while a little salty, was still sooo comforting on a rainy night. Such a casual, welcoming spot you could only find in Hawaii.
5 stars!!!
