We’ve had a quick breakfast here before a round of golf and a lunch on another occasion. The lunch was tasty, good value and the service likewise was very good.

Glasshouse Restaurant in Rowallan Castle

While we were eagerly anticipating a delightful birthday celebration at the Glasshouse Restaurant, our experience sadly fell short of expectations. Despite the enchanting ambiance and the commendable service from the polite and accommodating staff, the afternoon tea experience left much to be desired.

Although the venue itself exuded charm, especially in comparison to other fine dining options in Glasgow. However, the quick and attentive service, coupled with their efforts to accommodate dietary preferences such as ensuring halal options, was appreciated.

As for the afternoon tea menu, while it boasted a variety of selections, including finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts, we found the portions to be disappointingly small. Some of the items, like the Cheese & Red Onion Quiche and the Vanilla Cream Cheese & Gingerbread Sponge, didn’t quite meet our taste expectations.

Despite expressing our concerns to the host, the offered solutions, such as a 10% discount after payment or a return visit for a similar experience, didn’t quite convince us of a worthwhile return.

Overall, while the Glasshouse Restaurant may have potential, our experience left us longing for more in terms of portion sizes and flavor profiles. Perhaps with some adjustments, it could truly shine as a top-tier dining destination.

Christmas dinner at The Glasshouse– two courses for £31.95. I went for the Smoked Arbroath Haddock Gratin to start and then the Rowallan Prepared Turkey Roulade for my main.

The gratin was like a Cullen skink but with haddock instead. Not what I expected, but still great! Lovely artichokes in there too. Rich, warming flavours and a real standout starter.

The main was a good roast dinner with proper roast potatoes and veg. The turkey was a little dry, but the jus helped that a bit. One pig was missing its blanket though, and the stuffing wasn’t for me – the apricots dominated the flavour too much.

Some decent plates of food and some interesting choices on the menu but I felt it was quite expensive for what you got.

Food was good as we all had the beef but I couldn’t help think the other choices on the set menu for £32 were really expensive. Fish and chips or macaroni for £32! Sweets were ok but hardly generous. As I said it was tasty enough. Service was prompt and polite.
Setting was nice but as its winter it desperately needs heating. It was a cold horrid day and my 2 female guests were both frozen.
I wouldn’t recommend this venue in winter nor the value of the set dinner.

Finally managed to visit my new golf clubs restaurant, decided to take my mum and dad for a sunday dinner, I got arancini balls to start and they were light and crispy with a tasty tomato sauce. My partner and I got the Sunday roast and it was cooked to perfection, vegetables and the cauliflower cheese was great. My mum got the Morrocan spiced cauliflower steak which she enjoyed and my dad had the Troon harbour fish and chips which he loved, for sweet I got the Panna cotta, my partner got the brownie

We cheated! We went to The Glasshouse twice in the space of two days.
We were staying in the area and saw their high tea advertised. Which was delicious. Strawberry tart, lemon mousse, sandwiches… particularly delicious.
And then we went back for the Valentine’s Day set menu. Wow. Well thought out, beautiful ingredients, well presented. We shared so we could try everything.
What I will say is particularly amazing are the pastries – on the quiche, the tarts, the bread with the terrine.
I would say I’d go back – but I did already. Highly recommended ❤️

First time here and pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the surroundings are. The dining room was a little cold but a lovely atmosphere. Service was on point and the food was great. The 2 course is definitely value for money. Will be back.

Place looks excellent. But the service was very slow and food is just mediocre.
While booking I mentioned about my partner’s birthday ,I also re-reminded them about it when I arrived. Still they didn’t bring a piece of cake for the same.

Family run, sourcing food and drink locally. This is top class dining, on the edge of an exclusive golf course. Menu’s change throughout the year. We had afternoon tea, and it was excellent, and there was plenty to share.

Only been for a couple of times so far for breakfast rolls. But both times have been really nice and having tried the haggis and black pudding you can tell it’s better than the usual quality stuff. Looking forward to trying a dinner. Very nice setting as well with it being right in the country and fair prices as well.
