After telling myself, “I have to try Zinnia soon!” more times than I can count, I finally dined here for the first time with family for lunch. The atmosphere is bright, airy, and sophisticatedly charming. I very much enjoyed the burrata though I kinda wished it had been served warm since it’s so cold out—nonetheless the dish was still delicious. I had a matcha latte that was nearly perfect, I just should have asked for it to be steamed extra hot (it was a bit cold by the time it got to table). My grandmother got the salmon dish featured on the three course lunch menu, along with tomato bisque and the hazelnut crunch bar—each selection was delightful. My uncle had the avocado chicken salad sandwich with an in house prepared lemonade and said both were good.
We all left satisfied and would recommend to others.
I’ve attached the February event calendar and plan to check some out!
Thank you to our server Bianca for friendly and attentive service. The general manager was very welcoming upon our entry and nice to chat with when I bumped into him later.
Looking forward to future visits to Zinnia.

I came here for my birthday brunch with the girlies and had a cute time!! I have been wanting to try it out since coming across a TikTok review, and was super excited.

Now this area was packed and busy, there was a mini farmers market happening behind Zinnia’s, and also Christmas tree pickup, so parking was a little stressful. I luckily found parking in the lot across the street when someone was leaving, however, give yourself an extra 5-10 minutes to find parking. My friends were almost late for our reservations because they had to park a few blocks away.

There are two floors, and we sat downstairs, and it was so cute and cozy. Our waiter Kevin was THE BEST!! He was so warm, and we felt so welcomed by him (please give him a raise).

I ordered a chai latte, quiche with a side of old bay fries, and the challah French toast for my friends and I to share. I am a sucker for fries and was excited to pair them with my food. I personally enjoyed my food a lot. My quiche needed a bit of salt love, but everything was super good. At the end, they gave us a postcard with our receipt, which I was super excited for.

I LOVE that they played live music. It truly adds to the atmosphere. It did get really loud, and they were receptive to toning it down.

The hostesses who checked us in were cold and standoffish. It could have been because the place was really busy, chaotic, and overstimulating, but I don’t know.

I was pleasantly surprised by the interior, and the pictures don’t do it this place justice, ESPECIALLY for the downstairs.

I would 100% come back. My mom would love this, so you will see me again with her.

Group of us enjoyed drinks and dinner here. The menu-listed mixed drinks including the summer sangria that I had were done well. The smoked trout tartine was excellent except the bread was a bit over toasted. The soup of the day chicken lentil soup was delightful although the spice level was understated. The shrimp Po boy sandwich included noticeable amounts of shrimp and a tangy remoulade sauce. Others enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and nicely moist fried chicken, the shrimp and lobster grits, and the gnocchi.

Before our High Tea reservation at Zinnia, a few of us enjoyed $10 Old Fashioned during happy hour at the upstairs bar. Even though we arrived early, we weren’t seated until our exact reservation time. The High Tea experience is only available to those who pre-book and is limited to parties of 2-8 guests.

Once seated, we were promptly asked if we preferred still or sparkling water–though we weren’t informed there was a $10 per adult charge for sparkling water. On a positive note, they offer a lovely selection of 12 teas. Our server highly recommended their fruit teas, so I opted for the Goji Berry Herbal Tea.

We were served plates of fresh fruit–gooseberries, kiwi, and starfruit–before the tea towers arrived, but we had to ask several times for silverware, as none was provided initially. The tea towers were beautifully presented, and I appreciated that they had customized options for various dietary needs (gluten-free, kids, pescatarian, vegan, vegetarian), and they were able to accommodate my allergies. However, one guest had a nut allergy and wasn’t informed about the cranberry-walnut bread used in the brie and fig jam sandwich.

Each tower came with seven savory and five sweet items. My top picks were the Coronation Chicken with Mango Chutney and the Chocolate Mousse with Fresh Raspberry. Toward the end, we had to request boxes and scone condiments multiple times.

When it came time to pay, we were surprised to see a 20% service charge automatically added, along with a suggested gratuity of 20-30%.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday with a brunch here. I was lucky to get squeezed in for a reservation last minute as they were pretty booked out. The food is nicely presented and flavored. We got the po boy sandwich with salad, shrimp and grits and French toast. The shrimp and grits were good but my husband would prefer to leave out the green onions that were sprinkled on top. I enjoyed the po boy shrimp sandwich. Our daughter loved the French toast.

The interior is so charming!

The outdoor garden area could be nicer. The furniture looks worn out and could use some spray painting or replacing. The umbrellas could be replaced with better designs and colors. If that is done well, the garden could be an amazing space.

Edit: we brought our parents here for the dinner on a Tuesday and were pleasantly surprised by the Happy Hour menu items. We don’t drink alcohol but could still order from it. We were warmly treated by the waitress who was ultra attentive.

We the ordered hamburger (so juicy!), mussels (highly recommend!), steak (would not order again), lobster and grits (very flavorful), and cauliflower (delicious). Everything was so delicious! Increasing our rating from 4 to 5 stars!

Highly recommend. High quality food, great menu. Service is top tier.

I hosted an event here and every one of my guests thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a set 3-course menu with a great selection of beer and wine. If you’re hosting a dinner party, wedding reception, or a brunch, this is a great place to do it.

The service was attentive. They did a great job anticipating our needs. Food came out quickly. All of the dishes were full flavor – the steak was very tender and the portion sizes left us feeling very satisfied.

Great local business! Would come back again.

Delicious food in generous portions with friendly and professional service.
My friends and I had a wonderful evening at Zinnia while enjoying drinks, apps, dinner, and dessert.
Staff was accommodating to help me avoid stairs (♿) and readily answered questions about the menu as my party ordered.
Prices are very reasonable given the generous portions. There are lots of vegetarian options, and meat can be added to certain meals if you prefer.
Wonderful experience. Will definitely visit again.

Came here for lunch Sunday—apparently they only offered their brunch menu even at 12:30pm. My friend and I got the Avocado Croast and Colesville Cobb Salad with Grilled Chicken. They ran out of plain croissant for my Avocado Croat so I opted for a sourdough bread instead—they topped it with a ton of arugula and salad, I could barely see the avocado toast underneath, and the avocado was more like a guacamole, very liquidy and not a lot of avocado on the bread either. The Cobb salad was just okay—the dressing with very bland, and the grilled chicken was very dry. Got the Hazelnut Crunch Bar for dessert which was good, they even had a candle on it for my birthday!

For drinks, we got the Mimosa Special, which came with a whole bottle of Simonet sparkling wine with your choice of orange or grapefruit juice—this is a great option if you’re splitting with someone—we got two rounds of this! We ended chatting and drinking longer than expected so they eventually moved us to the bar so they could use our table for the afternoon tea party (starting 3pm)—while moving our newly opened champagne bottle, they tossed it out by accident, so the bartender gave us a new bottle. Our table server was nice and attentive but after we were asked to move to the bar, he never came over to check on us. The manager or host (not sure what position he was), also stopped by our table a few times to make sure we were okay (before we sat at the bar).

What a nice place! This was my first visit here; and we were a large group on a family meetup. The staff was really nice about letting us linger, and accommodating those who arrived at different times. I’m so grateful that they didn’t rush us out. The food and service was excellent. Given the location in Silver Spring, I was surprised to see how large the grounds were. Will definitely return again in warmer weather when we can eat outdoors.

LOVED our first time at Zinnia for brunch! It has a lovely atmosphere, the food was both beautiful and delicious (which isn’t always the case for brunch places in this area) and our service was prompt and friendly. We raved about every dish and will definitely be back!
