The shop itself is a former home-turned café/shop. So, parking here is very limited and very tight. While I could have fitted my car in one of the spaces, the two cars on either side were too close to the parking lines for my comfort so I parked across the street at the bank and walked over. When you enter, it’s very small but very well put together décor wise. Each area had signs that discouraged movement of their furniture and had its own kind of theme. I was meeting up with a friend and her daughter and unfortunately did not realize they had the typical café hours (closed at 2pm) so my visit was very quick (30 minutes) and I had to rush my conversation. I ordered an iced Monstera Mint latte and chocolate coffee cake slice. When the barista called up my order, I repeated my order asking if it’s mine (they don’t use a name system) and apparently *I* mispronounced MONSTERA because she turned her back and said within earshot to her coworker how I did not pronounce it correctly and why do people say it incorrectly. I am not a big plant person so excuse me for not knowing how every single plant name is pronounced. I know people vent at work, but it made me feel uncomfortable the rest of my visit, so I was glad it was almost time to leave before they closed. Vent after customers leave if you have to….
Anyways, my MONSTERA mint latte was good, but the chocolate coffee cake was a bit too dry for me. And service could have been a bit more professional in my opinion.

This coffee shop is in a cool old bungalow on a secondary street in Ballwin. Walk in the front door and at the back of the room is a counter where you order coffee, and a case with a small selection of baked goods.

Unless you’re told, as we were, you would not know to go down stairs to the addition at the back of the building. The addition is quite sizable, and there is lots of seating. This space has plants and gift items in it. The plant selection was not particularly impressive and in fact some of it looked a bit unhealthy. Since we were there for the beverages we did not spend any time carefully looking around at the merchandise .

The reason we made our first trip to The Ground was for the beverages. The Chai tea latte and Carmel Madeleine Latte we had were excellent. We did not try any of the baked goods so I’m unable to provide any kind of comment one way or the other.

As you will see from the interior photographs connected to this review, the place is a little bit bohemian. As an interior designer, I would love to have the opportunity to make the place more comfortable, warm, quiet, and cozy. The furnishings are OK, but certainly not anything to write home about.

Before fore warned, that their parking is limited. Luckily, for us, the bank across the street was not open today (Sunday)and we were able to use their lot

Would I recommend the ground for coffee or another kind of beverage? Absolutely!

Will I return? Definitely.

If you will follow me, you will learn about several coffee shops.

Enjoy!

Had a wonderful couple of hours reading with an iced peppermint mocha while waiting to start my shift down the street. The staff was superb and welcoming. The entire location was homey, a very cozy atmosphere that made me melt into my cup of coffee and my book perfectly. I’m certainly coming back here, as the place made me feel beyond comfortable.
I love this place, and my goodness that cup of coffee was the best I have ever had. It was a perfect balance of sweetness with the coffee and cold foam, they even added peppermint crumbs on top, which made the entire sight just wonderful. It’s something I’m certainly planning to take my partner to for a nice little coffee date. The pricing wasn’t too bad either, it’s what you’d expect from any coffee shop, but genuinely? With the additional, unexpected add on of the peppermint crumbs was such a nice touch that I’m quite unbothered by the $8 cup.
Overall, this place is worth the visit, although it looks like someone’s home, it adds to the very homelike, cottagecore aesthetic. I absolutely love it and will be back.

Went here for the first time. Really good, smooth, cold brew. Got a sweet cream cold brew with hazelnut and vanilla cold foam – delicious…

I checked out a new coffee spot that just opened nearby. Went there on the first day (Saturday) and the place had a really inviting vibe. The decor was simple but eye-catching. I asked for their signature drink, the Ground Latte, which is a mix of caramel and madeleine flavors, and grabbed a coffee muffin too.

I was super excited because it’s only about 5 minutes from my place. The first couple of sips of the latte were great, but then the almond extract flavor kicked in, and that ruined it for me (I’m not a fan of almond extract at all). But the coffee muffin was a hit! It wasn’t dry and had a lot of flavor, though a bit more coffee would’ve made it perfect. The texture contrast between the crunchy top and the soft muffin, especially around the spices, was awesome.

I didn’t want to base my review on just one visit, so I tried to go again on Sunday, but they were closed. Went back on Monday, and the same friendly lady was there. She asked how I liked the drink, and I was honest with her. She then recommended a new drink they were testing out: the white chocolate blackberry latte. I never thought I’d try something like that, but it was amazing! The flavors were perfectly balanced.

I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to try more of their drinks.

It’s located in a converted house, so it has the homey/cozy vibe. Interesting concept with the plants and decor. The coffee was pretty good, but the service was not good. Small and tight parking lot could be a little challenging as well.

Decent coffee for the price, unlike Starbucks. Limited selection as far as things to eat with you tea/coffee, but those things are deliciously sinful for any diet. Staff is fast and friendly . My only complaint would be that it needs more parking space.

I absolutely love this new coffee house. The only coffee shops we had in this area were all chains. We didn’t have anything locally owned. Not only is the coffee and food great, (I think they get their treats from a local baker) but they plants they have are so much fun. It’s nice to sit in there and work or sip your coffee will browsing the nursery downstairs.

I bought the cutest moss ball plant that grows in water! He sits on my desk and is such a conversation starter. I tell everyone he’s my pet plant and his name is Bob Moss

Super cute space! Very inviting. We loved the plants and gift selection.

We didn’t eat here, but we enjoyed our coffees. Seating is limited despite the large space. Parking is limited at the coffeeshop, but there’s plenty right across the street within easy walking distance.

This has become my go-to for a cozy Saturday morning hangout spot. There is a good amount of comfortable spots to sit and enjoy your coffee split between two floors of the building. It is a super neat setup with coffee on the main floor and then plants and gifts in the lower section. A great spot to find a cute gift for a houseplant lover. I love to bring my book and read when it’s quiet. They also have a great rotating schedule of holiday/seasonal drinks. I recently got a strawberry shortcake latte that was awesome!!
