Reviews
They served a small egg soup as a welcome dish — warm, light, and comforting on an empty stomach.
During lunch time, I tried the stir-fried vegetables, which were fresh and perfectly seasoned without being too salty.
I also liked that they offered small-size bowls of Jjajangmyeon — just right for a light meal.
Everything tasted great, and I definitely recommend visiting this place!

Note to try their egg rolls next time so I can hopefully enjoy another favorite appetizer of mine.
Service was very quick and helpful. They were so kind on our visit and attentive to clearing our plates. Despite some of the reviews (via Yelp) below, my first visit here went very well. We were celebrating two friends’ birthdays and it was such a delicious and enjoyable get together. Love our friends’ recommendations!!
But what compelled me to write this review is the ownership seem to deeply care about customer satisfaction, and their service have always been consistently attentive and friendly (and not surprising that it is packed even during weekdays). I hope this restaurant continues to thrive and wish great success.
Ordered two noodle dishes, the Jajangmyeon and the Jjamppong which are two Korean dishes I’ve had before, but not here. I will saw that these are two dishes that are somewhat nostalgic, since I’ve had them a good amount of times as a child. As with many dishes like that, there is a certain flavor I’m expecting. These two were not exactly that, but still pretty good in general.
The Jajangmyeon (black bean noodle) has that really savory (slightly sweet) black bean sauce with the chewy noodles. If you have never had this dish, the dark color might scare you off, but give it a try, the flavor is not as intimidating as the overall look is. There’s chopped up onions, other vegetables and small pieces of beef inside. The overall flavor was there, but I think it just needed that flavor more concentrated.
The Jjamppong which is a spicy soup was comforting on a cold New Years morning. There’s carrots, onions, zucchini, squid and shrimp in this one. It’s not as spicy as it appears from the color and I’d actually enjoy it more if it had more spice. Along with that you get that “seafood” flavor, so if that’s not your thing, be warned. I believe the noodles are the same type as in the Jajangmyeon.
This is a Chinese/Korean restaurant, as opposed to solely Korean, and they only give out one banchan, the kimchi. I was actually surprised that it was so good. It’s sweeter in flavor than usual and of course has the slight spice and sour pickled flavor. Got several refills of this one.
It’s a pretty basic designed place with lots of tables. There appeared to be many larger groups being accommodated for the holiday. Even though it was quite busy, service was quick and attentive.
If you are looking for some of the best kimchi, along with the entrees, try this place out.
2019: Peking gourmet is delicious. As good as in Korea for sure.
UPDATE 2020: yup, still delicious.
Also, I saw no mention of this, so I will.
PEOPLE, PLEASE TRY THEIR 간짜장.
IT. IS. SO. DANG. GOOD. Change your life with 간짜장, you won’t regret it.
UPDATE 2021 (6/2021): this place is so good that updating my review over the years is almost becoming pointless…. BUT, I realized that last year I shouted out the 간짜장 without even posting a pic! I added a few more photos to help out my fellow noodle lovers. Eat your heart out guys. Leave some for me tho. *pro tip, ALWAYS get your sauce on the side for entree orders (pork, shrimps, etc) . Dip and go as you eat. This way, you get that crunch even during the 4th quarter of your meal. #winning #yourwelcome
UPDATE 2022:
Yup, still Yes.
UPDATE 2023 (5/13/23):
Stillllll yes! I came in just half an hour before closing due to traffic driving up from San Diego. But the owner and staff still greeted me with kindness, and my food was as AMAZING as always. Thank you guys
