While passing through Salem, VA after a long two-hour drive, I stopped at Lydia’s after being drawn in by the beautiful building — and I’m so glad I did.
From the start, the complimentary breadsticks were wonderfully delicious and full of flavor. They were drizzled with olive oil, seasoned perfectly, and paired with a lovely marinara sauce that set the tone for the meal.
The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp, topped generously with both shaved and shredded fresh Parmesan, which added great texture and flavor. For my entrée, I chose the chicken marsala, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was tender, the mushrooms were fresh, and the entire dish was smothered in a rich marsala sauce that brought everything together beautifully.
Service was excellent as well. My server, Micheal, was kind, attentive, and truly on point throughout the meal.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend Lydia’s. The portion sizes are huge, the flavors are spot on, and it’s well worth the stop. Definitely bring your appetite!

If you’re looking for a good Italian place, this is it. First, the service was great. The ladies waiting on us were extremely friendly and personable. My food was great. The salad was fresh and the pasta was tasty. The place looked nice and clean. I would definetly eat here again.

This place is amazing! Found it the first time looking for dinner. Loved it! When I’m in the area, THATS where we go! Went there again for Valentine’s Day with my brother and his wife. The 4 of us had a wonderful meal, and lots of catching up. Had a reservation, which is a good idea on holidays.

Came here with two other people for a late lunch on a weekend and had a good meal. It wasn’t busy when we got there, but there are plenty of tables even if it was. Prices were reasonable, our waitress was attentive, and the building/bathroom was clean. Everything we got was good, but I think the side salad could have used some extra ingredients. Overall, a decent place to eat and will visit again.

Love ordering Lydia’s, have loved everything but the bread sticks. Ordered take out today and was sorely disappointed to find the “Garlic butter” bread sticks dry as a bone with zero garlic
Only thing I have yet to be disappointed in.
Everything else has been amazing, pizza, salad, calzone and especially the desserts!

I love this place and believe it or not. I truly love the wings. The buffalo garlic wings are my favorite and their Housemade blue cheese is perfect. It’s nice clean and quiet and I love it. The food is great and the Alfredo sauce is awesome and I love the lady behind the bar that wears the little wine earrings. She’s such a sweetheart.

A first time experience at this restaurant has me wanting to go back very soon. The waitress, Rio was top notch! The iced tea is such good quality you don’t need sweetener. The gluten free wrap is to die for. The homemade chips were amazing. My husband’s Italian sub was very satisfactory also. You leave with a sense that you’ve been taken care of and not overstimulated with multiple T.V.’s, loud music, and a huge crowd of non-smiling faces. We listened to Italian Christmas music which added to the comfortable feeling of the place. They also offer a GF dessert which was such a treat! This is our new favorite for sure!

The Italian nachos were amazing! Enjoyed the sausage calzone and my husband had a warm chicken wrap. Service was good. We would come again when in Salem.

The Alfredo was amazing base price is $17, added meat is $3-4. It also comes with homemade breadsticks and salad. My son enjoyed his spaghetti and devoured his meatball. We also got a cheese cake for $5.50. I like the prices for the food quality. I forgot to take pictures before we ate!
Parking is not the best, but they said if the parking lot is full we can park in the bank behind them (the signs say otherwise. We did we were fine but be aware).

The fact that I just spent $70 on a takeout meal which consisted of fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, eggplant Parm, three meatballs and garlic bread balls is mind blowing because as soon as I got home and I take a look to see the fettuccine Alfredo ($25) is completely dried out and the chicken which I paid extra for was not even a half of a grilled chicken breast literally maybe five small pieces of chicken. The eggplant Parm was two pieces of eggplant. The meatballs which there were three of them had no sauce on that they were dry and very expensive at $15 for something that is barely edible. Shame on this place!! The pictures I put a butter knife next to so you can see how small of a portion you get for the amount of money that you spend. And for it to be dried out and inedible is absolutely awful!!
