Sbarro – Irving & Harlem Plaza

Today, Friday, October 10, 2025, around 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., I had one of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had at any restaurant — and it happened at this Sbarro location in Irving & Harlem Plaza.

When I walked in, the place was completely empty — there was no one else at the counter and no customers ordering pizza. After what I experienced, I can clearly understand why. I truly believe people stay away because of the rude attitude of the employees working there.

I went in with excitement to celebrate National Pizza Month after receiving an official promotional email directly from Sbarro corporate. When I asked the employee about using the coupon, she immediately told me, “We don’t accept any discounts or coupons in this store,” in a very rude and dismissive tone.

The young Spanish woman at the register was completely unprofessional and disrespectful toward me. The man, another Spanish employee who was making the pizzas, was also cold, unpleasant, and clearly uninterested in helping customers. Both of them acted as if customers were a problem instead of people they are supposed to serve. Their behavior was humiliating and completely unacceptable.

It’s a shame that Sbarro corporate sends out national promotions to loyal customers but allows certain locations to refuse to honor them. That kind of inconsistency destroys customer trust and damages the Sbarro brand.

I left that store angry, embarrassed, and disappointed. If this location cannot follow corporate promotions or treat people with basic courtesy, Sbarro corporate needs to step in and take action immediately. The woman at the register and the man making the pizzas should not be working in customer service — their behavior was disgraceful and unprofessional.

I will never return to this Sbarro again, and I truly hope that corporate looks into how this location operates and who they have representing their brand. Customers deserve honesty, respect, and fair treatment — not humiliation and rudeness.

What makes this even worse is that Sbarro corporate itself continues to send promotional emails encouraging customers like me to visit their stores, only for those same stores to reject and embarrass us when we try to redeem them. This is not just a failure at the store level — it’s a corporate problem that needs immediate correction.

As a loyal customer who once respected this brand, I feel completely let down by the company as a whole. When a customer walks in with trust, expecting the promotion sent directly by corporate, and is treated with such arrogance and disrespect, it reflects not just on that store — it reflects on the entire company behind it.

Sbarro corporate, I strongly urge you to take accountability and ensure that all your locations honor the same promotions you promote nationally. Sending marketing emails to customers and then allowing your stores to deny them is misleading and unethical. It sends a message that the company values profit over honesty and has no respect for the people who support it.

Until serious changes are made at this Irving & Harlem Plaza location — starting with retraining or replacing the staff — I will be warning everyone I know about this experience. A brand’s reputation is built by how it treats its customers, and this Sbarro location has shown the worst example possible.

the workers were just laughing & barely putting any effort into the interaction & then, i kid you not, a few bites into the pasta, i couldn’t even sit still due to the immense stomach pain & then spent 15 minutes throwing up in the bathroom which quickly made me realize i got food poisoning. it’s the next day & i still can’t keep food down. Never again.

Was just there this evening with my kid, and let’s just say, I won’t be going back any time soon. The young female employee was lacking personally and was kinda rude. As though she wanted me to cash out before completing my order. My son’s pizza was fine, but mine was ice cold. When I asked if they had Sprite, she just pointed at the pop dispenser without answering me. No, thank you, no nothing. Guess she was in a hurry, probably needed to go potty or something.

Overpriced. Spaghetti pasta is overcooked and soaked on water. This is a price for one person meal. The owner needs to re-evaluate employees, or all ( owner+ employees) need to have good training for customer service. Found appears to be a nosehair on my meal…yuck! Tf !

My friend and i were looking for the menu, she had an attitude and seemed we were an inconvenience to her but there was no line of customers or anything.
After my friend bought our pizza ( which didn’t taste fresh or good ) she gave us our change in a rude manner dropping it on the counter. She just seemed annoyed and bothered.
So rude.

Save yourself the headache! Let me preface this I arrived at Sbarros at 7:00 which is a couple hours before close. I went to order a whole pizza to go, the staff looked at me like I inconvenienced them. Then when we placed the order with the staff member that had his AirPods in the whole time during our interaction, he turns to the ‘cook’ (if I can refer to him as that). They exchange some whispers then counter guy looks at me says $3 additional charge for the additional toppings. [At this point the ‘cook’ wipes his hands on his apron and starts kneading the dough, no sanitation involved. The guy didn’t wash his hands let alone wear gloves]. I then ask him for the total which he repeats the $3 dollar additional charge line again. I told him I understood that part but I’m asking for a total. He turns around again for the third time I just told him to forget about it because they made it more complicated than it should have ever been. Additionally the whole food court smells like feet.

The pizza is OK but the employees are not so pleasant. I rarely get food from Sbarro in general (not really my favorite) but the last two times I got a free cheese pizza for my birthday, the employees were very reluctant to give it to me, as if they were paying for it from their pocket. Both times they tried to find a reason not to give it to me.

Ordered a slice of the stuffed with sausage and pepperoni. Asked if I wanted sauce on the slice I said yes. As I watched him pour it it look like a very watery tomato juice with a few pieces of tomato in it. More than a quarter of the back of the slice was nothing but dried crust. Inedible. Restaurant is definitely not what it used to be
