Tanaka Ramen is honestly the best ramen in Kapolei. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and served fast. Their broth is rich, the noodles are perfect, and every bowl tastes amazing.

Visited this place twice and enjoyed it both times. Their menu suggests a recommended extra topping for each ramen, which I think is worth the extra 2 dollars or so. The first time, I had a chicken soup ramen with wontons and chili oil (the extra topping). I enjoyed the wontons and the fried onions. The spicy ramen went well with the calpico drink I got, which was sweet with a yoghurt flavor. The second time, I had calamari appetizer with spicy mayo, and the tanaka classic ramen with parmesan cheese powder (the extra topping). It had a very creamy tonkotsu broth with char siu pork and lots of fried onions as well. The cheese mostly sank to the bottom of the soup but that was alright. The food is on the salty side but quite delicious overall. Had a strawberry ramune with that, which is a soda with a marble covering the top.

Okay service and okay food.

I ordered ramen with extra bok choy – I was charged for 2 servings but there’s barely any bok choy. I know it can shrink with cooking but it’s not even 1 full cup. Very stingy with toppings $2.50 per serving. I’ve been to other ramen places that give more vegetables like spinach than this place.

Our server didn’t check up on us and see how we were doing. She set our bowls and basically ran away – I think she was trying to avoid me asking about why there’s too little bok choy.

Cheesecake was flavored with yuzu. It tasted nice since I liked yuzu but it’s frozen. I don’t know why the cheesecake is frozen. It was okay but don’t expect normal cheesecake.

The food was sooooo good! The restaurant was busy during our visit. The servers were busting their butts, taking care of everyone. The Ramen was flavorful and totally hit the spot! Very affordable for what you get!

Easily overlooked among the shops, restaurants, and offices in Kapolei, this hidden gem serves up some fantastic ramen and curry. I ordered the pork katsu curry bowl and was met with pure deliciousness—a perfectly golden, crispy pork tenderloin atop fluffy white rice, all smothered in rich, flavorful curry. Just thinking about it makes me hungry again! Don’t miss out—treat yourself to this amazing spot.

TL;DR: very good broth and very accomodating service!

Parking: private share lot.

Atmosphere: chill dining, good for groups. Slightly close quarters next to other tables.

Menu: descriptive. They do not have a kids menu but you can do a build your own ramen bowl and make one accordingly — keep in mind that it is still an adult sized portion so be prepared to share and/or take home leftovers.

Service: wait to be seated, order at the table, you will be watered, check brought to you, your table will be bused and you box your own leftovers when you request a box.

Tempura Brussel Sprouts: though the brussel sprouts were fresh, the tempura portion was extremely salty. I’m talking dehydrate-your-body-immediately salty. It’s like they breaded the sprouts in salt instead of tempera batter. We ended up eating our ramen first, and “washing” the tempura off the sprouts in our remaining broth just to eat the insides.

Tanaka Classic: oh man, this was a good bowl. The broth was absolutely delicious! The egg was perfect and the pork was as well. The beansprouts added a nice refreshing crispness to each bite. A bit heavy on the noods though — I always eat all the toppings first and then finish off whatever ramen I can. In this case, I was only able to finish 2/3 of my noods — I wasn’t too hungry at the time.

Saw a recommendation for this place as having a couple of vegan options. Was Not disappointed! The food was amazing! The vegan had the creamy ramen was superb and the Omni had soft shell crab bun and a spicy Tanaka Ramen bowl. Will most definitely be going back!

Not sure what’s happened to this place, but it was one of our fave restaurants for quite some time, never any food quality issues, really just our favorite place to eat. Recently (over the last year) we started going less because we’ve been getting food poisoning. We chalked it up to other circumstances each time, or maybe it was because we ordered take out or delivery, but after several months of not eating here and once again getting sick right after eating here in person it has to be a food quality issue. We’ve finally sworn off of it. Our suspicion is the kale noodles.

Great local place. Unassuming ramen house, great broth and excellent appetizers. Tried the fried oysters, takoyaki and their rock shrimp. 10/10 Will eat again!
