We arrived promptly for our 5:30pm reservation. My dining companion thoroughly enjoyed the pork belly & lobster roll. I loved the Nashville oysters but felt the Caesar salad & fried rice were lackluster. My cosmo was perfect, I appreciate bartender’s attention to detail. The space is a chill vibe with dim ambiance. My complaint is in mid conversation our server came over and said, “ ok ladies we’ll have to wrap this up the wedding party is arriving”.
My friend and I were super perplexed. No one indicated upon arrival that we were on borrowed time due to a private event. This would’ve been helpful to know ahead so we could determine if we wanted to keep the reservation or not. Alternatively, he could’ve suggested we step over to Yellowbelly instead kicking us out without warning.
&’cozy atmosphere. My only gripe (not restaurant related) was parking. It took my husband 20 minutes to find a spot since it’s located in the CWE near many other busy establishments.
Let’s start with the food/drink. We started with Brussels sprouts and holy mother of god they were amazing. The fried rice with all the fixin’s added in was also divine. The other dish we got was the steak which was good. We finished with the dessert espresso martini.
The service was great, our waitress was so attentive and sweet. There was a large group next to us and the whole place was booked and full. The space is small and I’d suggest getting reservations. Also final note – the branding is absolutely ON POINT here, so cute. The vibe of the whole place is very much aesthetically pleasing to a restaurant named Lazy Tiger
The highlight of my evening was the Moroccan Spiced Halibut. It was perfectly cooked—tender and flaky—with bold, warm spices that struck a perfect balance without overwhelming the dish. Every bite was flavorful and thoughtfully plated.
Elizabeth made the whole experience even better with great drink recommendations and just the right amount of conversation. It’s clear the team at Lazy Tiger takes pride in what they do.
One drink I especially loved and recommend is the Budgy Smuggler made with their housemade clarified milk. You can also order off the entire Yellowbelly food menu (sister restaurant next door) and every dish we tried was amazing. Get the raw and hot fried oysters, beef fat fries, lump crab fritters, elote taquitos, brussels, charred carrots, pork belly, green curry salmon, and grilled hangar steak. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors were so unique.
This should be a must stop if you’re in STL and also a great event space. I can’t wait to go back!
