Omg! The most expensive taco n nacho cheese. The chips are stale! The mini tacos are over priced. The service is on the weird side. I wouldn’t recommend anyone eat here! I’m taking my food back to the window so they can bask in their awful try at Mexican food! They don’t even bother to give napkins or sauce. Don’t put yourself through the awful food they make. I guess with the price of food going up they think the quality should go way down!

Always excellent at the Taco Shoppe!
I’m very glad they have this stand alone location outside of the Beach.
Friendly staff as well!
Seating is outside on three nice picnic tables with unmbrellas. If that’s not your thing, they are still good when you get them home!
They’re just as good as they’ve always been!

It was great finding them! That was one of the reasons we went to Indiana Beach. Then when they closed, we were heart broken. Just as good as remembered!

Same excellent food as theyve always had when at Indiana Beach, but without having to pay an entrance fee for the park to get to it! Moving outside of the park to this new location was perfect for us.

Picture of the outside is shown – it’s up the stairs to the right. There is a small waiting room with no inside seating. They do have some outdoor seating that you can see back behind the building.

Food came up very quickly and was exactly as good as it’s always been. We’ll defitneily swing by for a walking taco any time we’re passing through the area.

Good Tacos but no place to eat them other than outside in the heat. The Tacos get mushy if you don’t eat them right away and so messy to eat in the car. It’s only a pick up window. They need to open a regular Restaurant. Shells need to be crisper too for fried corn shells.

I will never miss getting tacos here when I’m visiting. I don’t know what makes them so good? But yummmmm

In from out of town, stopped by after attempt at another restaurant fell through due to randomly being closed (on a Saturday). Taco Shop was untraditional for us, with walk-up window and no indoor seating, but generous, flavorful portions and outdoor tables with shade were great for the 12 of us. Tacos were yummy, burrito satisfied a 50yr old construction worker, and taco salad looked great.
Gladly go back if we’re in town!

Best Tacos ever! Despite the fact that they are in downtown Monticello instead of Indiana Beach is different but still the best Tacos in the world! My only criticism is they can add more tables but other than that, they are excellent Tacos!

I’ve been a fan since I was a child. I grew up eating these tasty treat 50 years ago and even though I live 100 miles away I would make the pilgrimage to IB several times a year for one reason and one reason only THE TACOS. That says a lot about their consistency . I’m so glad to see that this institution has survived outside the confines of IB. I sampled the new location’s offerings several days ago and it did not disappoint ( well worth the drive). But this new location has several drawbacks. It is on a side street so only locals and long time fans ,such as myself, will find it and there is absolutely no indoors seating which to me is a major problem in the winter or a rainy day. These tacos are best hot. I never order more than 4 at a time and have been known to eat 10 tacos at a sitting. There is plenty of close parking so it looks like I will be eating in my car. I would hope the owners will consider moving to a larger location and expanding their menu in the near future. I’m sure their fans will reward them.

All these people crying about the shells not being crispy enpugh and no inside seating. This Taco stand use to be at the Indiana Beach Amusement park for over 40 years. It was never a restaurant and the Shells are suppose to be a little on the soft side with a little crunch. I grew up spending my allowance every summer on those tacos for over 40 yeaes..Still taste just a great. The price was always high cause it was an Amusement Park stand. So i do agree they could lower it just a little since its no longer at the Amusement Park. But Taco Bell can not beat these Tacos. Just wish they was open on sundays when we make the trip down there tomorrow.. We dont go to Indiana Beach anymore since the new owners ruined the place. the Taco Shoppe was the only thing made it worth going.
